I'm now in downtown Portland, where protesters were holding a calm rally at the Justice Center until the police ordered them out of the street over a loudspeaker.

More people poured into the street instead.

Then the protesters burned an American flag, drawing more people -- and media -- into the street. #Portland

Portland riot police just arrived, and protesters scattered from the street into the park / sidewalks. Police detained at least one protester.

"Portland, you not scared, right?" a protester shouts over a loudspeaker.

Tense scene here in #Portland when police were arresting a young man who walked out into the police line.

Upset with how police were treating the man, another person ran out and was immediately tackled, pushed into the ground and sprayed.

They shouted "I can't breathe."

#Portland Police again rush and arrest at least four more people.

Local police also just reappeared several blocks away after retreating from the Justice Center.

Police in #Portland just rushed back in and pulled a man from the crowd and arrested him.

As he was on the ground, the man shouted that his name was Christopher Davenport.

Police in #Portland have now pushed people several blocks away from the park and continue to do so.

Moments earlier, when a man was knocked to the ground when police charged a group of people.

The police have retreated and some people are now returning to the Justice Center and Federal Courthouse area, although the numbers are dwindling.
