#NEW 🚨
So we had a minor emergency at home last night. The Wife scalded her hand, pouring boiling liquid over it when a dish she was carrying spilled. Screaming ensued.
I looked up how to treat it at home.
First, run cold water over the affected area for several minutes.

The cold water will stop the burn from continuing to burn and spread.
Don't use ice. This can cause deep tissue damage when you don't know the degree of the burn.
We had no burn ointment. So the best at home remedy for a scald is #honey all over the affected area.

Apparently honey has antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties. The Wife said her hand (it was the palm and wrist) felt better immediately when I put the honey all over the affected area. I then covered it with gauze and taped it up.

You can change this dressing 4x a day. The honey actually absorbs into the skin. If you don't have honey, you can use toothpaste or white vinegar and cover with gauze.
This is only for small areas like hers. And not for an electrical burn (they cook into several layers).

Do NOT use butter, oils or eggs--these can cause infection & don't help pain.
The key thing is to have a calmative for the pain that does not cause infection, but helps with healing. The Wife said I should share this, given the #pandemic.
(Call 911 for any extensive burn.)
