📍RATIONING CARE has begun in Southern California w/ 0% ICU beds in many hospitals. This is from a Pasadena, CA hospital declaring to all patients that #COVID19 emergency rationing of care has begun.

➡️ Care will be prioritized by survival likelihood. Sobering. We are now here.

2) LA county had warned about this likelihood last week and begin preparing LA hospitals for this. It has now begun.

3) ICU capacity is now on the brink or non existent in many places now.

4) Search ICU capacity near you— it’s incredibly sobering. nytimes.com/interactive/20…

5) Previously, ambulances already being diverted or forced to wait for hours to unload patients.

Note—Public and private hospitals alike are prohibited by law from denying a patient care in an emergency. Thus if you walk into an ED directly, you cannot be legally turned away.

6) CA lockdowns are set by ICU levels. Any regions. Any area that drops below 15% ICU capacity will trigger a lockdown. Here is how it’s going.... horrible. google.com/amp/s/www.kcra…

7) for those who still dismiss #COVID19 as the flu, here is how it is different. Note the log axis. The difference is much more stark... 3x to 14x mortality difference. Not to mention #LongCovid issues even if survive. Stay safe folks!

8) Southern California is at 0% ICU bed capacity and will likely extend #COVID19 health restrictions for several more weeks—hospitals at the “breaking point” amid holiday surge of cases. latimes.com/california/sto…

9) just as bad as rationing hospital care based on survival odds, is ambulance 🚑 triaging and policy change to no longer send patients without a pulse to the hospital now.
