Here are two scenarios for how ULEV and ZEV sales might grow over the next 15 years.

We're at the start of a long journey to transition the car and van market in the UK

The market for more affordable zero emission cars is growing rapidly, with a more than 60% increase in cars priced under £35,000 since 2019.

We anticipate a much bigger market for second-hand ZEVs by 2035 and second-hand ICE and PHEV vehicles will continue to be able to be sold.

The van market is already seeing a rapid transition, with real eagerness from businesses across different sectors to decarbonise at pace.

🛻🚚 Here's just a handful of the leading businesses that have made public commitments on transitioning to ZEVs

🚒🚚🛻 We have already said that 25% of the central government car fleet will be ULEVs by 2022.

We will accelerate our fleet commitment. 100% of our car and van fleet (over 40,000 vehicles) will be fully zero emission at the tailpipe by 2027.

🔋🔋🔋 We are investing £1.3 billion to accelerate the rollout of charging infrastructure on motorways, on streets, in homes and workplaces. Later this year we'll public our EV Charging Infrastructure Strategy.

There are now more than 25,000 public chargepoints in the UK.

⚡️⚡️⚡️ Reliable and easily accessible public charging infrastructure is key to making the switch to EVs as smooth as possible. We have recently consulted to understand how to improve the consumer experience at public chargepoints focused.
