"Instead of depending on the market", says the eco-moron, "let's organise society around the weather! That will solve the problems we have with changes in the market!"

It's a very special, dangerous kind of idiot that we need to kick out of public life.
We could increase domestic production, increase storage, and we could end the disincentives against exploration.

"Nah", says the eco-moron, "I'd rather depend on the weather, thanks".
OMG, he *actually* finishes on Leadsom's dire videos for the dire ECIU! That's literally the climax of his #NetZero shilling fantasy! Image

The Times wants you to believe that the story here is a spiv, not a form of politics that created the opportunities for armies of spivs -- a form of politics that The Times has supported.
Although *I* should have been watching more closely (although I was not working in the field at the time), the first I realised of this was when I switched to a new energy retailer. I got a good deal and though no more of it until they started doubling my monthly DD payments.
My account was significantly in credit -- £hundreds. But the retailer (Toto) refused to refund or reduce the payments. They said it was because I had missed a payment, and that the fact that I was in credit made no difference.

No, it's not Brexit. And no, it's not because there aren't enough wind turbines.

They are both simple questions of logistics, the experts with solutions to which are (or were) in great abundance in this country, but which Westminster would sooner spit on than take advice from.
MPs would rather hear from teenage truants who did not graduate from primary education than they would hear from the septuagenarians and octogenarians that designed, built and managed the Grid and its generators about what they did, why and how, and how essential it is.
They would rather hear from -- and appoint -- actual anarchists who stood against road building than hear from people who can explain the importance of mobility to basic human welfare, and for meaningful human life.

the new Levelling Up taskforce under Andy Haldane is interesting for govt structure nerds (and an interesting contrast to govt structures for #netzero) @CommonsBEIS
Haldane is perm sec for 6 months (levelling up will take longer than that .. but first focus will be on working out what this means...) reporting jointly to Michael Gove and the PM.
The people working for him will be (I understand) a joint team from @cabinetofficeuk and the new DLUHC. not cleat how they relate to the delivery unit (but until we know what LU is...they can't do that much)

Here is a candid expression of government "thinking" from one of its leading idiots.

Government does not need to explain how #NetZero targets will be achieved, it just needs to set deadlines and then "businesses" will magically find the solutions.

That is worse than absolving the government of responsibility for its policies.

If governments are not accountable, who is?

Not businesses.

What @andrealeadsom explicitly argues for is for the policy cart to be put before the technology horse.

It doesn't matter to her that the plans may not be practical, economic, or even possible.

Why not abolish gravity, then?

And also aging?

just declare a deadline.

Dictators are looking to take over your food systems in the name of “climate change”

It’s why they blamed lab🦠on nature

In order for them to truly control you, they need control of food&energy. Now they also want that tied to your currency

REMEMBER: Personal Carbon Allowance
Imagine your CBDCs, BioDigital ID, Vx Passports, tied to a social credit score that is affected by your meat purchases - which then limits your ability to buy meat.

Impoverish & control.

We are excited to share our first report from the Delivering Next Zero project ✅

We identify eight key themes to emerge from workshops with the academic community in relation to delivering #netzero 💡

An overview🧵below 👇

#EnergyTwitter Image
Earlier this year, we convened 42 academics to explore a shared narrative on short term (next 10 years) & long term (following years up to 2050) measures for #netzero 0⃣

Experts represented the topic areas of energy supply 🏭 energy demand 🚄 & greenhouse gas removal (GGR) 🌲
Initial analysis of the workshop transcripts has revealed eight overarching themes in relation to building a narrative around delivering #netzero

These are summarised below with a brief insight into each:

Central banks have given governments their marching orders, to sign everybody up to mandatory digital IDs that will form the basis for new financial and social systems. This is not a conspiracy; this is just happening, all out in the open. Details in this thread:
The real economy has been dead since at least 2009; the financial system has been propped up with limitless fiat money-printing and government debt, kicking the can down the road:
By 2019 central banks reached the end of what they could do and had to come up with a new strategy for the next down-turn - and preserve the wealth of the government class, asset holders, too-big-to-fail zombie companies:…

50 days before #COP26 #ClimateAssemblyUK members are coming to Parliament today to mark the 1st anniversary of their report

The Govt has also published its response to the @CommonsBEIS inquiry on Climate Assembly UK's findings

Lots to say THREAD
First up, if you didn't see this y'day, four of the assembly members (Sue, Marc, Sharon and Tracey) met Sir David Attenborough

Great clip here:…
Sir David said: "the Assembly has been abundantly clear that greater public participation & fairness is needed at the heart of all climate action & ...I hope this govt has heard [that] loud and clear... [that's] one [message] I plan to share with all world leaders at COP26...”

The key point from today's National Audit Office (NAO) report into the debacle that was the Green Homes Grant. BEIS initially announced it would retrofit 600,000 homes & yet it failed to even do 10% of that...
#ukhousing #energyefficiency #netzero… Image
... & note govt's terrible record of unrealistic announcements on retrofit & failing to deliver. e.g. With the Green Deal govt announced an ambition to retrofit 14 million homes & only 14,000 households used it...
#ukhousing #energyefficiency #netzero… ImageImage
... & the critical point is if government is really serious on energy-efficient retrofit there needs to be realistic long-term policies with time to gain momentum with financial incentives to give households the incentives to spend & also...

The @IEA indicate that 75% of emissions reductions required by 2070 can be delivered by tech that ALREADY exists 💡

How can #energyinnovation be accelerated to ensure these techs are ready? 🚀

Check out our short briefing:
A🧵below 👇

Studies indicate energy technologies take 20-68 years to move from 1st prototype to 1% of a national market ⏰

Accelerating this process requires the emergence of:
📜supporting policies
⚖️regulatory frameworks
🤝firm engagement &
🙋‍♀️societal support drive market creation
As energy represents a complex legacy sector, this process will be slowed and shaped by inertia contained within existing systems, as new technologies increasingly drive disruption 🎆

Accelerating innovation therefore depends on funding and policies put in place TODAY✅

A thread on #ClimateCrisis:
Melting Boundaries
Nature Knows No Nation and No Nation Knows Nature
In the global fora, the issue of #climate change has been a game of ‘passing the parcel’ where the parcel is global in all proportions – global threat, global impact, global mitigation.
#Climate is the varying weather conditions experienced annually aggregated over a long period of time. Unfortunately, politically, climate change has had much less traction than the climate itself in the last 30 years. Efforts have been debated, litigated and even acted upon.

continuing @countryfile series on #netzero, yesterday's prog included a segment on anaerobic digestion (AD). The story as presented was AD runs on food waste & produces a netzero fertiliser as a byproduct of green energy production. The truth is a bit different. short thread 1/8
AD plants in England run on food waste (consumer & commercial), animal manures, crop waste and crops specifically grown to fuel them. latest figures show AD feedstocks as follows: food waste 31%, crops for AD 31%, animal manure/slurry 16%, crop waste 4%, other waste 19%. 2/8
Food waste (the only feedstock mentioned on CF) makes up less than a third of the total, while 67000ha of Maize is grown to feed AD plants. Farm-based AD plants make up the bulk (338) of all AD plants in England (486). They are heavily subsidised by multiple grants/tax breaks 3/8

A few more things about the #MERUK and Oil and Gas Authority Strategy, before the oil and gas bots get onto it... I compared these word for word, and at the face of it there are a few differences. /I
The strategy's "central obligation" remains that "Relevant persons must, in the exercise of their relevant activities, take the steps necessary to: a) secure that the maximum value of economically recoverable petroleum is recovered from the strata beneath relevant UK waters" /II;
“and, in doing so, b) take appropriate steps to assist the Secretary of State in meeting the #NetZero target, including by reducing as far as reasonable in the circumstances GHG emissions (...) and supporting carbon capture and storage projects” /III

They already knew this.

They knew this BEFORE #NetZero.

They believed that XR and the Climate Assembly would either i) change the public's mind, or ii) create an alternative 'democratic mandate' by proxy.
That's why @michaelgove met with XR just six months after being founded -- they claimed to speak for 'the people'.

But they represented nobody at all, other than about 3,000 weirdos.

They had been established to push Net Zero & Citizens Assemblies.
XR were convened to organise a new alarmist push towards climate policy in the wake of Trump and Brexit.

The Green Blob finally realised it needed to address the problem of democratic legitimacy, which it lacked.

So we got XR & Greta.

🚗🔋Today, around 9% of new cars sold are battery electric, and 8% are plug-in hybrid.

📈⚡️ By 2035, 100% of new cars and vans sold will be zero emission at the tailpipe

Find out how we're supporting this transition in our 2035 Delivery Plan. #NetZero…
Here are two scenarios for how ULEV and ZEV sales might grow over the next 15 years.

We're at the start of a long journey to transition the car and van market in the UK
The market for more affordable zero emission cars is growing rapidly, with a more than 60% increase in cars priced under £35,000 since 2019.

We anticipate a much bigger market for second-hand ZEVs by 2035 and second-hand ICE and PHEV vehicles will continue to be able to be sold.
