It is a good reminder to everyone that this agreement "US and Taliban signed a deal to end 18-year war" occurred back in February 2020 and was at the behest of President Trump at the time. The deal included us releasing 5000 Taliban prisoners. #Kabul bbc.com/news/world-asi…

One will also note there were no Afghani women involved or celebrating this deal. #Kabul

There is also this .... Pakistan. If anyone spends any time researching social media propaganda around the current Afghanistan situation it becomes very clear the large number of Pakistani aligned or sympathetic accounts celebrating / promoting the Taliban advances. #Kabul

Without comment ....

A good example of the propaganda. This structure is absolutely not #Kabul .... can't remember what city this was but this video was from a few days ago and it was not Kabul.

Here is the link and account is someone wants to precisely source video ... but I promise you it is not #Kabul A few people in the replies also note that. https://twitter(.)com/Rashid_OfficiaI/status/1426854576704081929 @bellingcat

So anyone who said the propaganda image was from Kandahar (City) and not #Kabul is correct. Not that it matters much at this point given how quickly Kabul has fallen. Left from Aljazeera & right screen grab from #disinfo video aljazeera.com/news/2021/8/13…

for posterity sake Reuters also identified this location as Kandahar the other day and not #Kabul I believe @Shift2015 identified it correctly almost immediately.

Oh wow ... I forgot this doozy of a quote from Sec of State Mike Pompeo back in August of 2020 #Kabul

Deleted the previous retweet ... after realizing probably not wise for security reasons to have retweeted that ... and the primary author appears to have also deleted the original image.

Not getting the goal for all these Pakistani accnts pushing the narrative US troops were shooting Afghani civilians at the #Kabul airport. There is of course no basis to this & it appears VERY likely 3-5 people were trampled to death in a frenzied civilian stampede last night

One Pakistani acct claimed Russian state media Sputnik was his source. Some of the tweets have come down & "verified" accounts have now qualified that shots fired in the air may have caused the stampede. Very different from propaganda of "US War Crimes" just hrs prior. #Kabul

And other very incendiary completely baseless propaganda like this .... again Pakistan. Why? Not understanding the point or goal from a supposed ally. #Kabul

Was there a Pakistani / Taliban led propaganda war to win the hearts and minds of the Afghan army and security forces in the months prior to the fall of #Kabul that US intel missed?
