Sadly 174 new deaths were reported throughout the UK, which is up 4 from last Tuesday.

Deaths still don't seem to have peaked here, despite UK wide cases peaking over a month ago now.

Also, I've started making some changes on the UK local page now!

First, the cases and deaths by specimen chart here now shows 4 areas, along with some other design changes. And by default, it will now show these 4 cities, one for each nation.

And second, I've added this map to show the number of new cases reported today in each local authority.

The colours are based on per capita figures, but you can zoom in to see a label that has the actual daily increase on it.

As the map is based on reporting date figures, it is subject to some reporting issues (mentioned in the text above).

But hopefully some people still find it useful!

Also, I'm not going to do a big thread today, but I will do a mini one below, covering this weeks UK figures!

So first, here are some figures on cases! Right now we're seeing sharp rises in cases in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

In England, the South West is seeing a pretty big increase. But other than that it is just minimal increases and even some decreases.

Deaths are still slowly climbing in the UK as a whole, but it is up and down when you look at things on a more regional level.

Northern Ireland is still seeing a fairly sharp increase in their figures though, and continues to have the highest rates by quite a distance.

The number of people in hospital and ICU/Ventilation is up and down from day to day, but still generally climbing upwards at a slow rate.

There have been two fairly big increases in the number of people in hospital with the virus in the past couple of days though.

And then vaccinations are still increasing slightly, although those increases will probably be short-lived, as it seems like they were mostly just a result of us working through 16/17 year olds.

Worldwide we should pass 5 billion vaccinations administered today!

And lastly here are some of the weekly ONS figures. Deaths were up again this week, with Northern Ireland having over twice the rate as the rest of the UK.

Excess deaths were also up a bit again, and remain outside of the normal zone for this time of the year, though not hugely.
