#January6th update: In a filing opposing defendant Edward Lang's motion for release, the govt alleges that Lang repeatedly kicked an officer identified as "Sgt. JM" as he was stuck against the door inside the Lower West Terrace tunnel.

Here's a still from a video that, according to the govt, shows Edward Lang kicking Sgt. JM. "Around 2:57 p.m., Lang and another rioter violently pushed a door against an officer's head and Lang simultaneously kicked at that officer." #January6th

Lang fought with police, by his own admission, for 3 hrs at the tunnel — the site of "one of the more intense and prolonged clashes between protesters and law enforcement."

Following the assault on Officer Michael Fanone, rioters began a 2nd wave of violence around 3:50 p.m.

Lang is described as "one of the leaders" who "repeatedly escalated his violent attacks over the following hour."

This vivid description: "Essentially, he crowd-surfed to commit violence." #January6th #EdwardLang

With Edward Lang at the front slamming a stolen police shield in front of officers, other rioters reportedly yelled "Traitors!" and "Are you motherf***ers ready to die?" #January6th

There's more violence, including complex strikes w/ a baseball bat that resulted in injuries to Officer HS' legs with "swelling that took a month to subside." #EdwardLang #January6th

Jan. 6 apologists have called those who attacked the Capitol "tourists" or people who "got caught up in the moment." Their lawyers will minimize their words as "hyperbole," but it's hard to overlook someone like Lang describing the sustained & coordinated attack as "war."
