/8 #Sarmat liquide heavy ICBM - we waited for the start of flight tests of the Sarmat and discussed that they could move to the right in 2022. Now the media has already begun to issue the same information. Why is this happening?

/8 #Sarmat Obviously, this is a completely new missile for the Russian rocket industry. Neither GRZ Makeev nor NPO Mashinostroyenia have ever made a so large ICBM. Working out on paper doesn't count. And, probably, such a new product “did not come in”.

/8 #Sarmat Then one can only guess - what exactly "did not go"? The upper stage and payload? I think that there are no questions with the payload, but the "bus" is one of the most important part of such a ICBM. It is possible that there are problems with its fine-tuning.

/8 #Sarmat Guidance system? Perhaps, but actually here we have always had a fairly large reserve and I think that there are no cardinal innovations in the control system of the Sarmat in comparison with the most complex missile control systems of the 1980s.

/8 #Sarmat Engines? Maybe. With a delay from the plans of the jump starts, one of the reasons was called the unavailability of the engines. Moreover, here we are probably talking about disrupting the delivery time of finished engines. It's possible I think.

/8 #Sarmat What else? The actual stages and hulls of the missiles? The Krasnoyarsk Machine-Building Plant was unable to assemble a new type of hull with higher requirements than for throw-in launches? Not sure if this is possible. Still, the plant is quite worthy

/8 #Sarmat PAD? Tested in throwing launches. Starting infrastructure? Likewise. Flight test infrastructure? A system of observation posts along the flight path and equipment at the Kura test site? I doubt. If so, then everything is somehow too wrong in the organization and plans

/8 #Sarmat Didn't have enough money!? It's incredible. but probably. In general, I would bet on the technical novelty of the project and the unpreparedness of the cooperation of the Makeev SRC for such large-scale missiles. But this is surmountable. Will wait 2022.
