#BREAKING whole area around the #PillarOfShame in #HKU has been covered up by white plastic sheets and surrounded by yellow boards. Lots of noises can be heard but security guards have been driving me away and asking me not to film, while refusing to answer what’s going on.
A cargo container is placed on the ground outside a cafeteria next to the #PillarOfShame. All the ways around the Pillar have been guarded and blocked and some students said windows facing the Pillar are boarded. The arrangements seem aiming to make sure no image can be captured.
How tightly #HKU has been blocking areas around #PillarOfShame? Not even a food deliverer and a bag of meal he was carrying was allowed in after some 20mins of confusion and negotiation.
HKU students’ media Undergrad reported per source that HKU council resolved on Wednesday that the #PillarOfShame will be removed and stored somewhere safe until a proper owner can take it away under conditions permitted by laws.

Wrapped like a mummy , a chunk that looks like - but can’t verify - the tip of the #PillarOfShame has been moved out and placed next to the cargo container for nearly an hour. If that’s the tip, it means the Pillar has been dismantled.
The #PillarOfShame has been dismantled into two parts , wrapped , boxed and sent away . All done before dawn.
After #PillarOfShame is gone, more boards are sent in to completely block the stairs leading down to the pillar’s old spot. Along the new Great Wall of Yellow Barriers, #HKU prepared a row of Christmas flowers.
