Here are some of the Priorities in the NewYear in-tray:

1. Horizon: continue to push for UK association, alongside a bold GlobalBritain PlanB

2. Research Ecosystem: implementing the Nurse, Grant & Tickell Reviews of the UK Research landscape to
- improve career paths
- reduce bureaucracy
- accelerate decision-making
- boost UK global strengths in attracting top talent in
science🧬 & innovation💥

3. Oversee establishment of the new UK Advanced Research & Innovation Agency (ARIA) as the UK’s “Science Satellite” to ensure the UK stays on the frontline of exploring new ways of doing new science:

4. Establishment of new National Science & Technology Council (NSTC - the ‘Science Cabinet’) & R&D Inter-Ministerial Group to provide joined-up cross-Gov R&D policy:

5. Allocation of the record increase in HMG Science budget to implement the R&D Roadmap & Innovation Strategy & maximise industry co-investment to achieve the KEY 2.4% of GDP R&D target

6. Support the implementation of the #TIGRR Report recommendations on #Regulation4Innovation - to unlock UK leadership in regulatory innovation for leadership in setting the global standards for fast-emerging new sectors from #Ai to #Nutraceuticals

7. Map & focus on the c thirty R&D #Clusters around the whole of the UK as the basis for Science & Innovation supporting #LevellingUp to create for ALL parts of the UK the new jobs, opportunities & companies key to sustainable long term growth.

8. Implement the #LifeScience Vision21 to ensure we repeat the success of our first #IndustrialStrategy in 2011 which has delivered:
✔️1000% growth💥
✔️global leadership in pandemic vaccines & treatments
✔️the foundations for a new era of faster & more inclusive digital trials

9. Implement the UK Innovation Strategy focus on the #TechnologiesOfTomorrow to help create the next High Growth Sectors (#SpaceTech, #Fusion, #Robotics, #Ai+#Quantum, #Cleantech, #AgriTech, #Bioengineering)

10. Oversee delivery by @spacegovuk of UK Space Strategy to develop £16bn UK #SpaceTech sector into a fast growing global cluster of space 🌏 & satellite 🛰 science, technology, engineering, manufacturing, software & support services from insurance to standards to finance.

11. Develop UK #Quantum Computing Technology & Industry Strategy to consolidate the UK’s global leadership in the science of advanced computing into commercial leadership in innovation & industry.

12. Establish new #GlobalBritain 🌏🇬🇧 Science Fellowships & Partnerships to tackle global grand challenges

13. Work with strategic global allies & partners to ensure #ResearchSecurity against hostile industrial & sovereign research espionage & IP theft.

14. Work with @RishiSunak @hmtreasury @JohnGlenUK @BIA_UK @BVCA to take forward the #PatientCapital & #Scale-Up capital reviews to unlock greater UK pension & fund investment in UK High-Growth companies

15. Implement key reforms as part of the *Research: People & Culture Strategy* to make the UK the most open, diverse, vibrant, meritocratic, multi-disciplinary & international location for global top talent in science & innovation.

16. Last, but by no means least, continue to speak up & make the case for science, research & innovation as key to:
