🧵1/ I need your help.
We fight for decentralization, we are building web 3, and what I’m going to tell you now shouldn’t happen to anybody.
Here my horror story:
Yesterday I invested a major part of my liquidity (1.5ETH) to buy an @alienfrens on @opensea
#NFT #NFTCommunity
2/ What I did was simply to buy a NFT, as most of us do everyday. No red flags or anything.
I select the piece, pay 1.5ETH for it and list it a few hours later for 2.9ETH.
In that moment little I know that the NFT has been previously stolen and sold to me by the thief.
3/ Out of the blue I get this warning on the NFT saying “Reported for suspicious activity”.
Suddenly, I can’t sell or transfer the NFT on OpenSea anymore.
Meanwhile, the price of the NFT @alienfrens (the OLU) goes up from 1.5 to 2.5ETH in just a few hours.
@alienfrens 4/So I open a ticket to get support from OS.
24h later still no answer, just an automatic reply saying that it could take up to a week to fix the issue.
After reaching out to OS on IG (where I have a “big” following), I get a reply and they answer my ticket straight away.
@alienfrens 5/ Unfortunately with very bad news. (See reply)
@alienfrens 6/ It’s insane they would fuck over a small artist like me in this way.
So at the end of the day:
-The guy who got his NFT stolen in the first place is fucked.
-Myself, that paid 1.5 ETH and lost a 1ETH gain? I’m fucked as well.
@alienfrens 7/
-The guy that ran away with my money is free to go and probably having a good time.
Does this seem right to you?
Here the NFT I'm referring to:
opensea.io/assets/0x123b3…
I mean this is how it should be done. Huge respect for the devs at @alienfrens.
@_masoncrowe you are an absolute legend.
@DeezeFi thanks for having my back and helping a fren!
SOME UPDATES:
8/ Within minutes after posting this thread, the team of @alienfrens speaks up and generously decides to gift me 1ETH. Couldn’t be more grateful 🙏🏻
9/ 16h after this thread, still no news from OS. But in the meantime, the previous owner and I are able to get in touch with each other and find an agreement.
Upon selling the piece, I will transfer him 1.5ETH (currently waiting for OS to confirm that he’s the real owner).
10/ 18h after this thread, some amazing news come in. Nope, not from OS, but from a true legend in the space.
@dingalingts offers me to buy the blocked piece on @LooksRareNFT for the price I had previously listed it for on OS.
11/ @LooksRareNFT, stands for decentralization.
Not only I was able to sell the piece, but the creators of @alienfrens still got their deserved royalties . And as an artist, I think that this is amazing.
12/ I still can’t believe it and I don’t know how to express my gratitude for this.
A happy ending for me and @CryptoNamit (the previous owner) that was made possible exclusively thanks to this incredible community.
I’m speechless.
