NEW: Mesa County Clerk Tina Peters (R) was arrested this morning by Grand Junction Police. Officers were responding to a request to assist local prosecutors on an investigation. Peters was released on scene and charges are pending, per police. #copolitics

Officers were serving a warrant to seize Clerk Peters' iPad on which she is suspected of improperly recording a court hearing involving her deputy clerk Belinda Knisley after a judge prohibited recording in the courtroom. It's the white iPad in the courtroom image below.

Clerk Peters denied to the judge that she was recording the hearing but an arrest warrant says "the iPadOS “camera” application was open, distinguishable with the red record button" and that an observer "saw that the view in the viewfinder was a live view of the
courtroom"

I've asked the @cologop and chairwoman @ColoradoKbb if Clerk Peters should resign and whether they continue to have faith in her ability to carry out elections. We first asked those questions on August 12, 2021 and have yet to receive an answer.

@cologop @ColoradoKbb Clerk Peters faces local and federal investigations related to the breach of voting system security in her office. Protected files were given to Peters' fellow election rigging conspiracy theorists. She later fled the state under the protection of MyPillow guy Mike Lindell.

Tonight, Peters ally + fmr Trump advisor Steve Bannon called Colorado law enforcement "the Gestapo" and said, "We're taking over these election boards. This is a shot across the bow." Fellow conspiracy theorist Col Shawn Smith said, "This is the use of state violence by tyrants."
