I been seeing way too many people in the comments and QTs saying how great the 1940s was because of a picture showing Black Americans looking prosperous

All these photos are also from 1940s America
#BlackHistory

For those who don't know, sharecropping and forced labor was still the norm in the 1940s for many Black Americans; my grandmother included

George Stinney, the youngest person executed in the 20th century at the age of 14 in 1944

The 1940s also had several race riots where at any given time, a white mob could terrorize Black people and destroy our neighborhoods with no consequences

Here's photos of the Detroit race riot in 1943

A photo of the funeral of George Dorsey and his sister Dorothy Dorsey Malcolm

Both were Georgia sharecroppers who were pulled out their car by a white mob and murdered along with two others

The case was closed in 2018 without charging anyone

This is also 1940s Black America

As a group I feel that Black Americans are survivors

We've never actually had it good, but we've always "made the best of the BRUTAL circumstances of the times"
