On 9 March, a man, who introduced himself as an associate of the Police Department “Saryarka”, #SULEIMENOV Nurbek called Tabys and invited him to the Police Department regarding his participation in a peaceful protest on 4 January 2022.

The policeman summoned the activist over the phone without explaining the meeting agenda, as required by law. Also, like all peaceful citizens, Tabys did not commit any violent acts or riots at the rally.

It should be reminded that in other cities, riots, arson and looting have been organised by criminal groups under the control of the authorities.

At the end of the phone conversation, the policeman expressed his understanding of the activist’ actions, but informed him that “it [persecuting peaceful citizens for political reasons] is his job”. At this moment we do not know the destiny of Tabys MAGRUPKANULY.
