On the way, police and NSC officers detained them using brute force.

The activists' arms were broken, tear gas was used, and one of the (apparently) supervisors said that the activists should be handcuffed. Later, they were sentenced to illegal administrative arrest for 7 days.

One grenade fell right in the middle of the crowd and exploded. According to Yerlan FAIZULLAYEV’S words, while the stun grenades were exploding, snipers were shooting at the demonstrators from the akimat. The activist saw one of the protesters fall dead.

Yerlan FAIZULLAYEV is sure that stun grenades were used by the Russian military. According to him, the military who fired the guns were speaking in Kazakh.
