There's a large #fire tonight (May 2-3) in a #warehouse distribution center east of #Moscow, Russia, about 25 miles (40 km) from the city center. The fire is reported to cover an area of 34,000 square meters, or 8.5 acres. A🧵for updates & clarifications. 1/

The #warehouse #fire near #Moscow, #Russia already has been geolocated. It is at a large distribution center called "Atlant Park." Coordinates:

The state-owned TASS news service is reporting on the #fire outside of #Moscow, saying it "arose in a #warehouse with textbooks and other printing." 3/

There are numerous reports indicating that a company known as "Prosveshchenie" is the owner, or one of the owners, of the #warehouse currently on #fire outside of #Moscow, #Russia. IF (again, *IF*) this is true, then the story gets very interesting. 4/

Prosveshchenie is one of the main publishers of textbooks in Russia. A recent widely-circulated investigative report describes how, after Russia invaded Ukraine, Prosveshchenie was ordered to reduce or omit references to Ukraine in its textbooks. 5/

Given the role Prosveshchenie was going to play in Russia's plans for anti-Ukraine propaganda, it's not hard to see why the company would be a target for sabotage or civil disobedience intended to make a statement. 6/

This news report confirms that, indeed, the #Moscow #fire started in a part of the warehouse complex belonging to the Prosveshchenie publishing company. The fire then appears to have spread to parts of the logistics center owned by other companies. 7/

Note: English translation of news about the #Moscow #warehouse #fire will list the company name "Prosveshchenie" as its English equivalent, which is "enlightenment." You can search for Russian-language news about the fire with the keywords: огонь просвещения . /end (for now)

Seems the mainstream media is catching up with everything we shared in this thread last night ... Here is a New York Times article about the "Prosveshchenie" warehouse fire outside of Moscow:

The Daily Beast also has a rather detailed article about the Prosveshchenie ("englightenment") #warehouse #fire outside of #Moscow.
