"Sex work is work" is not only misogynistic, but racist & classist as well.
A research by UNICEF found that 10% of young adolescent girls admitted to having transactional sex for sanitary pads in western Kenya. They have to do it because of period poverty & the shame, stigma...
& public health misinformation which surrounds menstruation.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, the number of pregnant teenagers in Kenya increased rapidly. The African Institute for Development Policy puts the number of teenage girls who became pregnant in the country between...
January & May at more than 150,000, with Nairobi recording nearly 12k pregnancies.
This was a result of transactional sex for sanitary pads, a shower, clean water, & food. Many parents don't send their daughters to school & marry them off at a young age to relieve pressure...
on household resources.
Many girls don't attend classes during their periods because their schools lack toilets with water facilities as well as discreet sanitary waste disposal areas. Enclosed & female-only washrooms also improve girls’ safety by giving them privacy when...
using the bathroom, which protects them from sexual assault.
But unfortunately, liberal feminists who claim to care about women, push narratives that harm women & girls all over the world, especially those who live in some of the most underprivileged countries.

Black women experience misogyny combined with poverty. This not only happens in Kenya, but also in Ghana, Uganda & Eastern Africa. Parents who can't afford food trade their daughters for food. That's how desperate & destitute they are. Can you imagine any of this?
#BlackWomen
You can't tell people to "listen to sex workers" when all you want to say is "sex work is work" or "sex work is sexual liberation". If you really want to listen to sex workers, listen to those 40 million+ victims of sex trade, not some upper class escort or OnlyFans model.
It might look cool to write "intersectional feminist" in your bio. But you can't be intersectional if you think transactional sex is sexual liberation. Most of the people living in developed or developing nations have no idea about these women.
#Feminist
Be it information, education, or healthcare, everything is at our fingertips. The things that we easily buy at a daily basis is a dream for millions of women & girls. It's quite easy to expect legalization of the sex industry.

It's easy because it most probably won't affect you, but millions of marginalised women all over the world. Not only money acts as a form of coercion, but sanitary pads, food, & water also make girls sell their bodies.
#WomensRights #women
Being born in a privileged house &/or a developed country is not your fault. But it is your fault if you don't think beyond you & your life. It is your fault if you sexualize women & call it "empowerment". Being ignorant & insensitive on purpose is your fault. Please stop that.
