🧵Today I will delve into the attempts of the #UK to colonize parts of southern #Somalia through the creation of permanent military bases
I will also cover British political dealings with “reformed” terrorists for this purpose
The UK began its presence in the resource rich south #Somalia when they arrived in World War II & began to illegally dismant the Mogadishu-Villabruzzi railway.
It had 7 stations & stretched to the Ethiopian border. The railway was for shipping agricultural produce to Mogadishu
With that being the only meaningful British impact in southern #Somalia i will move forward to present times.
In 2019, the UK established a military base in Baidoa officially named “The Baidoa Security Training Centre (BSTC)”
The UK justifies its permanent presence in #Somalia by claiming it fights ”terrorism”.
The same UK also cripples domestic efforts to create an army by maintaining through the UNSC an embargo against Somalia, leading to the Somali army not owning a single airplane or tank in 2022

When the terrorists and the soldiers both only have access to light arms, violence is prolonged and no side wins. Which means the UK gets to stay longer in #Somalia, while decrying ’terrorism”
Furthermore, the #UK funds unaccountable ”counter terrorism” units that dont necessarily come under the command of #Somalia’s ministry of defence.
The British funded ”Goodir” unit is one example of such
Deliberate lack of assistance which leads to prolonged violence and a high mortality rate against the terrorists can also be seen in how #UK trains Somali soldiers;
- Providing Somalis with wood cut outs of AK-47 instead of actual weapons
- Low grade set ups & ”exercises”
The #UK has also attempted to approach a detained Somali terrorist for the purpose of grooming him for eventual political takeover of the region in which they operate today
The terrorist name is Mukhtar Roobow, a man responsible for several Somali atrocities 👇🏿
Mukhtar Roobow was the co-founder & deputy leader of Shabaab
He is most known for directing the 2009 hotel #Shamo bombing that killed 24+ injured another 60
The targeted were medical students enjoying a graduation ceremony and others
The suicide bomber was dressed as a woman.
With the US puppet regime in charge,the UK might re-ignite it’s policy of grooming the detained terrorist Mukhtar Roobow.
