Achieving racial equity requires investments in good data. This report lays out 10 key recommendations for #AsianAmerican and #NHPI communities, building on the strong #DataEquity work of @WHOSTP @OMBPress @WHIAANHPI 🧵and link aapidata.com/wp-content/upl…

First, we need federal investments in data collections on #AsianAmerican and #NHPI communities that can offer insights that can inform the work of various federal agencies #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

Next, we need to raise the federal minimum standard for data collection across all relevant agencies that expands upon the categories used in the 2020 Census and American Community Survey #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

We also need to INNOVATE, with pilot programs and incentives for agencies to expand their current data collection categories beyond any newly created federal minimum standard #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

Upgrading to new standards requires funding. Congress must ensure adequate funding to ALL federal agencies to meet new data equity standards and requirements #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

We need the #BidenAdministration to track progress at the highest level. The Domestic Policy Council should submit an annual public report on the progress that federal agencies are making towards #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

#DataEquity requires recognition of community and researcher expertise, in all stages of federal statistical data collection #AAPI #WhoWeAre

We need a scientific advisory committee and a community advisory committee on data equity, similar to the structure adopted by the U.S. Census Bureau #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

Data needs to be delivered in a timely manner for it to be useful. Federal agencies must prioritize timeliness between completion of data collection and reporting data back to community members #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

Data products need to be user-friendly, enabling communities to elevate their narratives and take policy action. #DNA #Data #Narrative #Action for equity #DataEquity #AAPI #WhoWeAre

Finally, the work of #DataEquity is ongoing. Federal agencies need to continue the cycle of engagement with community members and researchers, including on evaluation and changes to data criteria and data systems #AAPI #WhoWeAre
