"The group is also accused of plotting to foment a riot and storm Congress, action that eventually forced the evacuation of lawmakers meeting 2 confirm the 2020 election results."

Remember when Roger Stone fomented a riot 2 prevent a recount in 2000? 1/ washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/…

I wrote here about Roger Stone’s election riot in 2000. 2/ jennycohn1.medium.com/the-2000-u-s-p…

Timeline:
7/1/20: Stone says he can help re-elect a flailing Trump if Trump commutes his sentence
7/8/20: Stone makes a baseless claim re: Ds planning to rig the election
7/9/20: Proud Boys form Warboys, LLC
7/10/20: Trump commutes Stone’s sentence; PBs celebrate w/ Stone. 3/

Soon after, Stone resurrects his bogus “Stop the Steal” campaign from 2016 (where he used the same slogan during the primary & general election) & 2018. As in 2018, Ali Alexander is his apparent front man. Did they discuss the scheme during this August 2020 dinner? 4/

It does seem odd that Ali Alexander deleted his tweet that mentioned his August 2020 dinner with Stone. 5/

6/ I discussed Stone’s 2016 “Stop the Steal” campaign here. jennycohn1.medium.com/roger-stone-al…

7/ I discussed Stone’s 2018 “Stop the Steal” campaign (where Ali served as his apparent front man) here. jennycohn1.medium.com/roger-stone-th…

8/ Some background info re: Ali Alexander.

9/ Ali Alexander also had ties to the Council for National Policy (CNP).

10/ 👀👇

11/

12/ Stone’s bogus 2020 “Stop the Steal” campaign was officially launched with a since deleted tweet by Roger Stone protege Jack Posobiec who currently has more than 1.7 million followers on Twitter.

13/ Posobiec worked closely with Stone to elect Trump in 2016.

14/ I wrote about Posobiec here. jennycohn1.medium.com/far-right-agit…

15/ More info on Posobiec will be published soon by @splcenter, which has followed and warned of his many misdeeds for years. @MichaelEHayden

16/ It’s not as if people didn’t see what was coming. Many did. These posts are from September 2020, when Stone called for martial law in the event of a Trump loss. As far as I can tell, Stone was the first MAGA “thought leader” to suggest this idea publicly.

17/ At the time he recommended martial law, Stone knew that Trump faced an uphill reelection battle. He knew there was a realistic chance that Trump would lose.

18/ Polls from September 2020.

19/ This seems significant. Trump’s poll numbers were so bad that Mitch was reportedly pulling support.

20/ I forgot to mention that Posobiec was involved with Stone’s bogus “Stop the Steal” campaign in 2018 too. (Along with Ali Alexander, Joe Biggs, longtime Stone assistant Jacob Engels, and others.)

21/ Photo from “Stop the Steal” 2018. jennycohn1.medium.com/roger-stone-th…

22/ Roger Stone protege Jack Posobiec apparently served at one time as a sort of liaison to the Oath Keepers. (Note that the video below is from 2017, not 2018.)

23/ In 2019, Roger Stone’s longtime assistant, Jacob Engels, apparently served as a sort of liaison to the Proud Boys.

24/ The Proud Boys supported Stone during his criminal trial that same year.

25/ In 2019, Engels & Tarrio drafted a petition to have “Antifa” designated as a terrorist organization.

26/ Posobiec called upon Trump to designate “Antifa” as a terrorist organization too. Is it just a coincidence that all of these people (Posobiec, Engels, Tarrio) are in Stone’s innermost circle?

27/ For years, part of Posobiec’s apparent “assignment” was to spread lies about “Antifa” engaging in violent acts. The apparent purpose was to justify and/or deflect from right wing violence (or perhaps to stoke right wing violence). jennycohn1.medium.com/far-right-agit…

28/ Some great work by @RVAwonk on this issue.

29/

30/

31/ Posobiec really ramped up his “Antifa” propaganda before the insurrection. He even wrote a book.

32/ He spread a whopper of a lie about “Antifa” after the insurrection too.

33/ After the insurrection, Stone denied that he had played any part in organizing the January 6 “rallies,” but Ali Alexander had already outed him back in December 2020. Oops.

34/ In November, Ali and Stone had met with Captain O, who considers himself a captain of the Oath Keepers and has called Stone his “mentor.”

35/ I wrote about Captain O here. jennycohn1.medium.com/the-oath-keepe…

36/ Indicted Proud Boy organizer Joe Biggs has said that Stone is “like family” to him. Indicted Proud Boy leader Enrique Tarrio has called Stone a “close friend.”

37/ In December 2020, Stone resurrected his suggestion that Trump declare martial law & claimed to have seen “incontrovertible evidence” that North Korea had delivered ballots to Maine by boat, a geographically laughable claim. Notably, Stone never presented this “evidence.”

38/ Team Trump apparently pursued several alternative paths to stealing the 2020 election. One was apparently to claim there was foreign interference, seize the voting machines, & have a corrupted USAID re-run the election. Is this why Stone floated his BS claim re: North Korea?

39/ Is this need to establish ** foreign ** interference the reason that Sidney Powell bent herself into a pretzel with bizarre & false claims about Smartmatic & Venezuela?

40/ As reported by @gal_suburban, Team Trump’s scam to falsely claim that foreign interference had thrown the election to Biden & to then re-run the election through USAID required that ODNI file a report confirming such interference by December 18. That deadline wasn’t met.

41/ Meanwhile, as first reported by @SethAbramson, Stone fundraised for “protective equipment” for Trump supporters on December 11, 2020.

42/ There were two dress rehearsal rallies: the Million MAGA March in November and the second Million MAGA March in December. Stone missed the first one (he attended a “sister” rally in Florida instead). But he attended the second one in person.

43/ On December 11, 2020 (the night before the second Million MAGA March), Stone rallied alongside indicted Proud Boys leaders Tarrio, Biggs, and Nordean, as reported by Just Security.(Recall that these 3 men formed Warboys, LLC in July 2020). justsecurity.org/74579/exclusiv…

44/ A few days later, Stone met w/ Florida Oath Keepers, including Connie Meggs (& his wife Kell) 4 a conveniently timed “book signing.” Before Jan 6, Connie would write in a text message of his desire to kill Nancy Pelosi. On Jan 6, he hunted 4 her.
washingtonpost.com/local/public-s…

45/ Another photo of Stone with Florida OathKeepers leader Kelly Meggs on 12/13.

46/ Meanwhile, on 12/12/20, indicted Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio (Stone’s “close friend”) claimed to have been invited to the White House, which the WH later denied.

47/ Indicted Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio was not only “close friends” w/ Stone. He also worked 4 Stone as a volunteer, as Stone told the judge presiding over his 2019 criminal trial. Stone said his volunteers had access 2 his cell phone & social media.miaminewtimes.com/news/roger-sto…

48/ Even before this court admission, Stone’s ties to the Proud Boys were already so blatant that the Daily Beast referred to the group as Stone’s “personal army.” thedailybeast.com/how-the-proud-…

49/ In fact, Roger Stone, his longtime assistant (Jacob Engels), and the Proud Boys were tied to the same network of allegedly inauthentic Facebook accounts. which Facebook removed back in July 2020. axios.com/2020/07/08/fac…

50/ After Stone was convicted, he claimed to want a commutation of his sentence, not a pardon, which he said implied guilt. Trump pardoned him anyway in late Dec 2020, giving Stone an excuse to meet w/ him in person, ostensibly to thank him. I wonder what else they discussed.

51/ Roger Stone apparently spoke with Florida Oath Keepers leader Kelly Meggs (the “I want to kill Nancy Pelosi” guy) again on Dec 30.

52/ Stone then promoted & spoke at a Jan 3 rally outside the home of Florida senator Rick Scott, where he told Scott to vote against certification of Biden’s win. Stone was photographed at a rally w/ the Proud Boys the same day. I don’t know if this was the same event.

53/ On Jan 4, Stone told Alex Jones that Trump had something up his sleeve for Jan 6.

54/ This was December 28, 2020. 👀

55/ On Jan 5, Trump followed up on that petition (prepared by Tarrio & Stone’s longtime assistant Jacob Engels) & suggestion (by Roger Stone protege Jack Posobiec) to designate “Antifa” as a terrorist organization. @gal_suburban

56/ On Jan 5, Stone was photographed in DC not only with some subsequently indicted Oath Keepers, but also with his longtime assistant Jacob Engels (the self-described Proud Boys associate who served as Tarrio’s press manager in 2019).

57/ More re: Stone & Jan 5

58/ Context re: Stone & the Oath Keepers rallying outside SCOTUS on Jan 5. They were apparently trying to pressure the court re: the case filed by Louis Goehmert (whose chief of staff is pals w/ Ginni & Clarence Thomas). Instead, SCOTUS rejected the case on Jan 7. Womp. Womp.

59/ I forgot to mention this: Roger Stone’s good friend and volunteer, Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, posted “What if we invade it?” on January 3. @euanrellie

60/ I forgot to mention this too. Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio (Stone’s close friend & volunteer) flew on a private plane to the December Million MAGA March. His status as a leader of Latinos for Trump seems to give him a cover of sorts.

61/ More re: Roger Stone, January 5 & that SCOTUS case.

62/ Look who was in Roger Stone’s tent on Jan 5: Jack Posobiec.

63/ Quick reminder. Stone & Posobiec have worked together since 2016.

64/ I wrote about this here. jennycohn1.medium.com/roger-stone-al…

66/ Stone was supposed to speak on Jan 6 but didn’t. He watched the rally from his hotel room with his “publicist” Kristin Davis (aka the Manhattan Madam) instead. washingtonpost.com/investigations…

67/ It’s weird that Stone’s longtime assistant, Jacob Engels, wasn’t photographed with Stone on Jan 6. Engels claimed to have spent the day with Stone. So why no photos???

68/ Reminder re: Jacob Engels.

69/ A few more reminder re: Jacob Engels. So where was he on Jan 6?

70/ After the storming of the Capitol, Stone tried unsuccessfully to blame “Antifa.”

71/ Tucker Carlson tried to blame the insurrection on “Antifa” too. (Tucker & Stone are old friends. Tucker wrote the intro to one of Stone’s books & demanded that Trump give Stone a pardon for his crimes.)

72/ So did Florida Representative Matt Gaetz, another member of Stone’s inner circle (shown below w/ Stone & convicted felon Joel Greenberg). orlandosentinel.com/politics/joel-…

73/ So did the Arizona GOP, using a video by Guess Who? Roger Stone protege Jack Posobiec.

74/ Jack Posobiec himself tried unsuccessfully to blame the insurrection on “Antifa.” As usual, he lied.

75/ An absolutely crucial point by @RonWyden. I wish more Democrats would point this out.

76/ I wish I had time to delve into Alex Jones’s conduct leading up to Jan 6, but I don’t tonight or tomorrow. He and Stone have worked together since 2016, as I wrote about here. jennycohn1.medium.com/roger-stone-al…

78/ From Part 1 of my Medium series. (I’m still writing Part 3, which will incorporate most of this thread.)

79/ As explained in the thread, Proud Boy organizer Joe Biggs has said that Roger Stone is “like family” to him. This is Biggs. 👀

80/ Stone & Biggs.

81/ Posobiec & Biggs.

82/ More on Biggs.

83/ And a bit more. Ok now I’m done for tonight. I think.

84/ Psych! One more.

85/ Sigh. There is so damn much.

86/ And who hasn’t chanted “Victory or Death!” before a totally peaceful protest?

87/ 👀

88/

These dates stand out. Trump commuted Stone’s sentence in July 2020 when his poll #s were so bad that Mitch McConnell had reportedly given him until 9/7/20 (Labor Day) to turn them around. Trump did not turn them around, & “Stop the Steal” was officially launched on 9/7/20. 89/

BTW, Stone & his cohorts must have known that the Proud Boys had a propensity for violence. This is Stone’s friend, Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, describing the group years ago. Link: 90/

91/ Sent by Joe Biggs in late August 2020, h/t @karmaonesixone 👀

95/ Correction: Posobiec published his “antifa” book after the insurrection, not before.
