His parents may be rich, but they're also almost never there and at this point, he knows the maids better than them.
Ofc he has Feng Xin and Mu Qing but it feels like he only has them as long as he doesn't stray from the perfect head boy persona.
So, on his 17th birthday, he decides to make a bad decision. He searches for the shadiest bar in town and goes there to get horrifyingly drunk.
But surprise! When he enters the shady bar, one of his yearmates is behind the bar, the goth kid Hua Cheng.
HC: what's a good boy like you going in a place like this?🤨🚬
XL: drinking to forget😔🥺
Cw alcohol || so, HC mixes one fruity little cocktail after the other for him and XL gets embarrassingly quickly really drunk.
And, at least on this day, XL is a morose drunk.
Two hours later, he practically cries on the bar counter. "All I want is one (1) person," he tells HC, "for whom I'm the most important thing in the world. One person that loves me more than anything else."
HC: you don't really want this.
XL: Yes, I do!
HC: No you dont.
XL: >:(
HC: Alright, darling, how about we make a bet. You know that fake dating trope, right? For one month, we'll fake date and I'll treat you just like that, like you're the most important thing in the world.
HC: I bet you won't last a month before begging me to stop.
XL: Challenge accepted!
And that's how it starts.
At the beginning, it's all that cliché romance stuff. HC waiting for XL at the school gates, carrying his bag to class, eating lunch with him, /incessant/ text messages, going on cute little dates...
FX and MQ are so confused and outraged btw.
And then it escalates. Spending their nights together turns to having long, whispered talks in bed turns to "let's live together" turns to "I'd die for you".
HC keeps escalating their relationship, keeps turning it more obsessive, more possessive, just waiting for XL to stop it.
But XL never does. (XL is having the best month of his life.)
Of course, Xie Lian thinks Hua Cheng is only acting. Both of them anxiously await the moment when this will end.
