If you type vitalik.eth.link in your browser...

It loads Vitalik's Website!

Here's how YOU can also make YOUR .eth ENS name resolve to a web2 site! šŸ‘‡ šŸ§µ

2/ First, you have to create a HTML file and upload it on IPFS

You can create the HTML using an IDE or a basic text editor (save it as a .html file)

Here's a basic HTML file that redirects to an existing website:

3/ Head to Pinata.cloud pinata.cloud to upload the file on IPFS

Create an account, then click 'Upload' and select your HTML file

Once it's added, youā€™ll get an IPFS CID (Content Identifier)

Copy the CID

4/ Next, head to the ens.domains app and go to your profile

Click 'Add/Edit Records'

5/ In the 'Content' section, enter "ipfs://" followed by the IPFS CID

Scroll down and click 'Confirm' to push the data to the blockchain

And that's it. Your ENS name is now linked to a website!

6/ ENS automatically generates the .eth.link extension for your name

So you can type yourENSname.eth.link and see your linked website open up

7/ A reminder:

By default, Pinata uses a public gateway to access your site on IPFS. This sometimes results in long loading times

If you want to make your site load faster, consider setting up a dedicated gateway:

knowledge.pinata.cloud/en/articles/56ā€¦
