Why Ukrainian attack on Antonivsky bridge was successful and why it made a strong psychological effect on russians and local collaborators. Let's get started with history.

Antonivsky bridge was built in 1985. Its length over the Dnipro is 1,3 km, its width is 25 m. The total length of the structure, which passes into the bridge over the Konka River, is 10 km. The bridge connects the right and left bank of the Dnipro near Kherson.

The nearest land way across the Dnipro is located 70 km away. This is the road through the Kakhovka hydroelectric station. But there is also a railway bridge in a few km.

During last few days UA army hit the Antonivsky bridge, after which up to ten holes appeared in the road. None of the civilians were injured.

The head of so called military civil administration of Kherson region (created by occupiers) Vladimir Saldo made the statement that they have been decided to close the bridge for repairs.

Saldo's deputy Kiril Stremousov accused the Americans of shelling the bridge. He also added: "this is a protracted war, in which there will be no winners." His rhetoric has changed. Recently he said: "Russia is here forever."

Antonivsky bridge is extremely important object. Even its partial destruction greatly complicates logistics for russians. If UA Armed Forces counterattack in Kherson, russians will be cutted off from support and it will force them to retreat in unfavorable directions.

The destruction of the bridge will force occupiers to supply weapons, equipment, ammunition and manpower to Kherson in another ways: to cross the Dnipro on boats or to land helicopters in Chornobayivka. You know what I mean 😉

Successful actions of UA army on the bridge and the strikes on the russian’s warehouses have a significant psychological effect. Ukrainians who stay under occupation see: Ukraine has not abandoned them, no matter how much russian propaganda lies about it.
