Only reference that I have seen mentioned around is regarding Superman talking to Lois, losing faith about humanity momentarily.
This resembles part of his conversation with the priest in Superman: For Tomorrow (issue #204) where Superman states that his only sin was saving the world. In both comic and media he is hurt because he seem to be losing a loved one (Martha in #BvS, Lois in the comic).
Both show Superman losing faith for a moment only to come back stronger and having a better understanding of his place in the world, a path that I personally really like.
