"There is no pause in Royal Air Force recruitment & no new policy with regards to meeting in-year recruitment requirements." - RAF.

Head of the armed forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, used his first public speech to stress the importance of striving for better diversity.

In 2016 there were around 13,000 Army officers, but only 160 were Asian or Black. Of 7,000 Royal Navy officers, 20 were black or Asian. RAF, just 75. In 2018, just 6.5% of the total intake into the Armed Forces for the previous 12 months were black, Asian or minority ethnic.

In October 2018, just 2.5% of UK military officers were from ethnic minorities, a rise of just 0.1% since April 2012.

Then Chief of the Defence Staff, General Sir Nick Carter, had previously stated he wants the Armed Forces to have a “culture of inclusivity”.

In 2019, not a single individual in the military’s most senior three ranks were black, Asian or minority ethnicity, the RAF was the least diverse, with just 2.4% of their personnel identifying as BAME. By comparison, roughly 13% of the UK’s population is of BAME background.

These facts are all the more salient because back in 2015, then Defence Secretary Michael Fallon stated: “I want at least 10% of our new recruits to come from a black, Asian & minority ethnic background. This isn’t about tokenism it is about attracting the brightest & best.”

If you believed the billionaire-owned UK press, who relentlessly puke out divisive, provocative & misleading culture war #propaganda, you might believe that 'diversity & inclusion' is a bigger problem than the press's explicit racism, deception, disinformation & misinformation.
