Ready for a story?

The prominent Dravidian social media intellectual and anti-Tamizh-Brahmin account promoted by the richest elites of Tamil society like @PTRMadurai posted a picture of him gifting TM CM M.K.Stalin a book.

This book is "Kalaignar Kalanjiyam" collection of works of fmr Tamilnadu CM Dr Kalaignar Karunanidhi.

Notice the bottom - presented as if it is a publication of Centre for South Asia Studies -- with the Univ Seal and Logo.

Notice again.. closely

Except there is no Centre for South Asia Studies in UC Berkeley. In fact Americans write "Center" not "Centre"

The institute is called "The Institute For South Asia Studies"

It struck me odd that UC Berkeley would publish such a book on a political leader !! but decided to look at @UCBerkeley ISAS "Publications" page. Sure enough could not find the book

Just to be sure used the search button to search the book title part both in English and Tamil.

Nothing

Very odd indeed that UC Berkeley would publish ** on its seal ** a book of this nature. BUt I am willing to wait for clarification from Mr. SKP Karuna.

Meanwhile this is what I found 1/

In 2008-9 timeframe Tamilian (Dravidian type) Associations in USA collected money and published a book called "Kalaignar Kalanjiyam" -- then during an event they got George L. Hart to give the first copy to Mr Jeyavel Murugan - that seems to be extent of UCBerkeley involvement

You can see how 'association' with them will be used in Tamil.

Still I may have missed something or searched using wrong words. Will wait for SKP Karuna or KRYes to respond.

Remember this is a crime - misrepresenting the Seal of UC Berkeley.

You will hide in Tamil semantics like this --

see I only said வெளிட்ட (released).. not பதிப்பித்த (published)

so cant catch me etc etc. Why I love D.

We will be checking if the following usage of @UCBerkeley seal is legitimate and approved.

The logo is from the ISAS @UCBerkeley -- presented "as if" this were a UC Berkeley publication.

you can notice they have made subtle changes to the logo (notice the dots) anticipating some OG Tamizh sleuth like with an iota of self respect scrutinizing them. They also used the Indian spelling "Centre"

you know what is amazing ? the #D peter sandu elites who are normally neck deep in 'narrative' looking the other way as if nothing is happening. Guys - kryes is fighting for YOU - the elites. Not for the underclass.

reference to the launch event. The event where George L. Hart launched as Apr 20, the book was already released in Arivalayam Chennai (DMK HQ) on Apr 15 2008. So no question of UC Berkeley releasing the book let alone publish it. tamilonline.com/thendral/artic…

I got some input that this Institute of South Asia Studies was earlier called Center of South Asia Studies - still does not explain the spelling "Centre" . Or that there was a publication was from the university itself.

Checking this one.

Patience ppl.

Ok - nothing on UCB website about name change. IN any case there is zero chance an American Univ would use "Centre" -- that is irrelevant.

I have asked them directly, lets wait for an answer
