This supreme science was thus received through the chain of disciplic succession, and the saintly kings understood it in that way. But in course of time the succession was broken, and therefore the science as it is appears to be lost.

Conclusion — Lord Vishnu first gave the knowledge of Gita to Vivasvan the sun God , he gave it to Manu , he gave it to Iksvaku and so on. But when the knowledge became extinct Lord Krishna revived it with Arjuna as the medium.
