How is Tantra different from Veda, especially when it emerged in India parallel to Veda?

ĀGAMA & TANTRA

The Āgama and the Tantra are two branches of the same heterodox system.

The voluminous texts of the tradition deal with a number of subjects, broadly speaking numbers 1 — 7 = Tantra and 1 — 21 = Agama.

So technically an Agama is more expansive than a Tantra but sometimes these names are used interchangeably.
