ERIC. SCHMITT. CAN’T. PROTECT. MISSOURIANS. @Eric_Schmitt
-Not from abuse/slavery at unlicensed boarding schools
-Not from a pandemic ravaging hospitals and destroying families
-And not from enduring forced birth and trauma at the hands of the state.
Let’s explore.
🧵 1/?
He and @GovParsonMO allowed the situation at #Agape to go unchecked for far too long, and still haven’t stopped it.
@AGEricSchmitt’s office fielded the complaints of gang rape.

He had received the many DHS warnings of the labor trafficking. The sickening reports of children and even employee spouses forced into involuntary servitude.
He knew exactly what was going on and not only did the school continue to operate, Schmitt **asked to be taken off the case** because he said the local prosecutor wasn’t being tough enough.
How does that even make sense?

Rather than use the power of his own office to shut down this abuse factory, he threw in the towel and abandoned vulnerable Missouri kids and families that were suffering sexual and physical abuse and ::checks notes:: BEING ENSLAVED.
Only recently, after immense public pressure, did he re-engage on the issue, but immediately faced an embarrassing loss in court when the judge refused to close down the school.
As Attorney General, Eric has abjectly failed to protect those kids.

When COVID began ravaging Missouri communities and destroying families, @AGEricSchmitt did nothing but excessive political grandstanding and exploitation of Missourians to rally his extreme right-wing base and advance his chances in the Senate primary.
He parroted every ounce of the Trump anti-science propaganda, from personally denigrating the scientists to granting special privileges to fake magic drugs like Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine.

On masks, he displayed the typical Republican doublespeak strategy hoping we wouldn’t notice.
He wasted taxpayer dollars by suing **China** for “hoarding masks”, saying China made Missourians less safe in the fight against this novel global virus.

But then he sued nearly every public school district in the state for their mask requirement policies, echoing the extremist propaganda that equated masks to child abuse, and initiating a huge waste of taxpayer funds on nonstarter cases.

When the school mask requirements were inevitably dropped as the caseload data put regions in lower risk categories, @AGEricSchmitt claimed victory, saying schools were conceding the fight because of his litigation.

That was his play all along: a slew of dead-end lawsuits that, with a little smoke and mirrors, he could sell to his voter base as victory over political opponents. Eventually, it all petered out and Missouri taxpayers were still stuck with the bill.

But wait, there’s more!
Women are at risk in Missouri under the draconian anti-abortion trigger law that @Eric_Schmitt gleefully enacted after #Roe was overturned.
He even used state resources to brag about being the first state to do it.
ago.mo.gov/home/news/2022…
Republicans manipulated the narrative after Dobbs, saying the issue was simply being sent back to the states where it belongs.
That lie imploded this week when @LindseyGrahamSC introduced a federal abortion ban after 15 weeks. So much for #statesrights
nytimes.com/2022/09/13/us/…
The obvious implication here is that if elected to the United States Senate, @Eric_Schmitt will be a rubber stamp for the fascist @GOP crusade to control women’s bodies and strip away our liberty.
But I have thoughts on that.
My own personal experience on this issue gives me a depth of understanding that @AGEricSchmitt could never match.
I published my story and he can read it, if he’s brave enough. It’s compelling and cuts to the core of the religious abortion argument. ⬇️

I doubt he will, and if he did I imagine he’d look me square in the eye and say he’d forced me through it again.
He can’t protect kids. He can’t protect women. He can’t protect the people of Missouri.
Strangely though, he’s not afraid to protect Donald Trump at all costs.
That means, most critically of all, if Schmitt is elected he will also be a rubber stamp for election deniers.
Given the opportunity, he would absolutely join @HawleyMO in voting to overthrow an election just like Trump and the @GOP tried to do on Jan 6, 2021.
Our only solution is to throw everything we’ve got behind @buschvalentine, a common sense candidate who will bring a level head to Washington.
Eric’s attacks against Trudy are empty. But the evidence mounting against his ability to lead is overwhelming and undeniable.
Eric Schmitt is too extreme for Missouri. #tooREDforMO
The choice is clear. It’s #Trudy4MO or we risk everything.
