The show depicts the relationship between The Queen and her first PM Winston Churchill as distant and frosty at points. According to reports however, their relationship was warm and friendly.

Her Majesty was even previously quoted saying Winston was her favourite Prime Minister.

The opening scene of the drama series is set in 1947 and shows King George VI, played by Jared Harris, coughing up blood after struggling with lung cancer.

However, he was actually not diagnosed with lung cancer until a year before his death in 1951.

Series 3 shows the meeting of Prince Charles and Camilla, and the relationship between Camilla's future first husband Andrew Parker-Bowles and Princess Anne.
However, in 1972 when Charles and Camilla met, Princess Anne was already in a courtship with future husband Mark Phillips.

Episode 5 of series 4 depicts when Michael Fagan broke into #BuckinghamPalace in 1982.
The Crown shows the reason he broke in was to express his anger with the government directly to The Queen.
However in reality he broke in on a whim saying: "something just got into [his] head".

Margaret Thatcher's son Mark, disappeared for 6 days in 1982 whilst competing in the Paris Dakar Rally.
In #TheCrown this weighs heavily on The PM just as the Falklands conflict begins.
However the conflict did not begin until almost 3 months after Mark returned safely to the UK.

Fans of Netflix series #TheCrown have since demanded that the show bosses should produce another series after the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
