It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry into the #BatmanvSuperman references the DC lore series. Today, it’s time for the Doomsday scene in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood
Several references and especially many homages to The Death of Superman (DoS) storyline. But let’s start at the beginning. First, as highlighted by @raveryn there are similarities in this scene between Lex and Lex Luthor from Superman for All Seasons
Then we get to the actual creation of Doomsday in which the imagery resembles the one from Superman/Doomsday: Hunter/Prey #2.
Doomsday being Lex’s creation bears some similarities with Superman thoughts on where Doomsday comes from in the Death of Superman storyline (hat tip to @hawkofkrypton for highlighting this one).
After this, Doomsday throws Superman against his statue and immediately after he crashes a helicopter which seems like a clear homage to a panel from the DoS storyline (specifically from The Adventures of Superman #497).
There’s more Doomsday-helicopter-action references. As in the same comic, he uses a lamp post to bring one helicopter down, while in #BatmanvSuperman he uses the X from the LexCorp sign to do it.
And immediately after this one we get Doomsday being bombarded with explosions and shots very much like this panel from Superman: The Man of Steel #19 from the DoS storyline.
Before I finish since this is the first time we see Doomsday in the movie, I also wanted to pair it with the first time he appears in this famous comic storyline (Superman: The Man of Steel #18). Highlighting how different they will be by the end of movie and comic!
