🚨 Data Investigation 🚨
Tonight, the CCSD Board will be meeting for the evaluation of Superintendent Jesus Jara.
The data they will review is so bad it even shocked us.
They don’t even address the elephant in the room.
Let’s take a look…
1/? 🧵
#Nved #CCSD
2/?
Student Proficiency
Look at all that green! Isn’t it amazing!
NO mention that only 54% of students participated in the test last year.
Let’s try looking at a different comparison w/ more context…
#DataInvestigation
3/?
Did you know before Jara was Supt, CCSD had a HIGHER 3rd-grade proficiency rate than the rest of Nevada?
It’s true!
But not anymore.
Why wasn’t this mentioned in the evaluation?
The other schools in Nevada went through the same pandemic.
#ContextMatters
4/?
It’s true when you break out results by student ethnicity too!
Students in CCSD who identified as Hispanic had higher proficiency rates in CCSD prior to Jara.
Now they're 2.5 points below the rest of the state.
#NoGreenInThisChart
5/?
The change is even starker for students who identify as Black.
While proficiency rates for Black 3rd-graders have been decreasing in CCSD, they have been going UP in the rest of the state!
You probably didn’t notice this in Jara’s evaluation.
#TRUTH
6/?
Look familiar?
Same pattern, but now we’re looking at students who identify as Asian.
Gains in the rest of the state while CCSD loses ground.
7/?
It’s not just 3rd-grade reading.
CCSD is significantly losing ground in MS math too.
That didn’t stop them from putting green all over Jara’s evaluation for middle school math proficiency rates.
#SameStateDifferentResults
8/?
Less than 1 in 10 Black middle school students is proficient in Math in CCSD
Yet, proficiency rates have been going up in the rest of #Nved
That didn’t stop Jara from getting a green box on this very metric
#Unacceptable
9/?
Next up – Student Discipline.
More green boxes.
What’s interesting these aren’t even metrics in Focus 2024.
Seriously…
10/?
Here are the metrics from Focus 2024.
No metric comparing enrollment rates to suspension rates.
But there is a metric asking students if they feel safe at school.
Let’s look at that…
11/?
Crazy that this metric from Focus 2024 is not in Jara’s evaluation.
It turns out students do not feel any safer at their school.
And it’s even worse than this depending on where you live…
12/?
Only 69% of students in North Las Vegas said they feel safe at their school.
In other words, almost 1 in 3 students DO NOT feel their school is safe.
Almost 1 in 3 students don’t feel CCSD is meeting their basic need for safety.
#NotInJarasEvaluation
13/?
No student perceptions in Jara’s evaluation.
And there is no parent and staff perception data in the evaluation either!
CCSD has it, but they’re not putting it in the evaluation.
Want to see why….
14/?
Parent & Staff trust in CCSD is the lowest EVER!
Look at these numbers! This is insane.
Only 1 in 3 staff believe CCSD is transparent and open about the way it operates.
In other words, 2 in 3 staff think CCSD is hiding something from you!🤯
15/?
We’re not talking about a few people.
Over 14,500 school staff took this survey and almost HALF of them do not believe CCSD is a credible source of information.
How could Jara’s evaluation be credible if the people in CCSD don’t believe CCSD is credible???
16/?
The survey data just confirms what we already know…
Staff are fed up with the DISTRICT’s BS.
Last year CCSD saw the greatest exodus of teachers & licensed staff EVER, but you wouldn’t know that from Jara’s evaluation.
17/?
Under Jara’s leadership, administrators have been heading for the doors at the fastest pace ever
Not only are we losing experienced leaders, but it’s also exacerbating the teacher shortage
Guess where you won’t hear anything about this…
That’s right, Jara’s evaluation!
18/?
When it comes to staffing, Jara’s evaluation is all green!
#Speechless
19/?
The truth is you won’t see any of this presented in Jara’s evaluation.
20/20
None of this will matter when the Board reviews Jara’s performance.
This is not the data they are looking at.
A multi-billion-dollar organization is evaluating its leader based on 3 cherry-picked metrics and our children will continue to suffer as a result.

Be sure to like, retweet, text, and/or email this the first tweet in the thread:
2nd tweet in the thread, we said CCSD's participation rate on the SBAC last year was 54%
We meant last year Spring 2021,
not last school year Spring 2022
Their comparisons are not apples-to-apples.
