I’ve talked a lot about Ontario candidates, but did you know that Manitoba elections are coming up on Oct. 26? Again, it’s important to know your local candidates, especially this year. Lets take a look at some school board candidates in #Winnipeg… #mbpoli #wpgpoli #mbed

First, our friends at the Canadian Anti-Hate Network profiled a few far-right and covid-conspiracy candidates, antihate.ca/former_proud_b… 2/

Listed were:
Pembina Trails Ward 1 – Dick Eastland
Pembina Trails Ward 1 – Linda Karn
Pembina Trails Ward 2 – Todd McDougall
Seine River Ward 3 – Katie Howe
Winnipeg Ward 8 – Patrick Allard 3/

McDougall is the most notable, the former leader of the Manitoba branch of the Proud Boys, a fascist group listed as a terrorist group, and a classic far-right conspiracy theorist, with a bit of 9/11 trutherism thrown in for good measure. 4/

Also note that Linda Karn is not to be confused with Luanne Karn who is running in Winnipeg Ward 6 and seems quite rad, actually. 5/

In addition to the candidates CAHN profiled, another list was posted here: 6/

Pierre Attallah in St. James-Assiniboia Centre has already made the news for his bizarre behaviour on the doorstep – going through constituents’ mailboxes and removing other candidates’ flyers. 7/

Attallah is aligned with Action4Canada and says he will vote no on SOGI 123, British Columbia’s Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity framework. If that’s what he wants to do, I think he’s in the wrong province. 8/

Amie Green is running in LRSD Ward 1, and has been sharing misinformation on COVID and masking. 9/

She’s also apparently friends with Patrick Allard, mentioned above 10/

Also in LRSD Ward 1 is Francine Champagne, who is into the anti-vaxx stuff as well. 11/

Dr. Marilyn Simon in Winnipeg Ward 3 was a writer for Quillette, which is the voice of the Intellectual Dark Web, so that’s... maybe not far right but certainly a red flag. For more info, see this video:

Angela Anderson Johnson in Winnipeg Ward 5 is also known known as an anti-vaxxer and allegedly hangs with McDougall and Allard.

Shannon Hiebert in River East Transcona Ward 5 would like to inform you that she is a proud member of a small fringe minority with unacceptable views. Here’s hoping she gets a small fringe minority of the vote. 14/

Not on either list is Zachary Linnick, running in St. James-Assiniboia West ward. This isn’t his first time running, he’s previously run for office as a Libertarian candidate and did predictably poorly. 15/

If someone calls themselves a Libertarian, you know they’re into some weird stuff. Here’s some COVID-denial and anti-mask posts from his facebook 16/

So, also don’t vote for Zachary Linnick in St. James-Assiniboia. 19/
