Sun afternoon, PRC consulate, Manchester: people from consulate exited gate to tear down satirical Xi Jinping pic, then dragged protesters inside compound & roughed them up before police arrived & separated them. No arrests reported.

This is the satirical picture that protesters exhibited outside Manchester PRC consulate & people from consulate apparently took exception to. We deplore their attack on protesters on UK territory.

A photo of a Manchester police officer rescuing a protester from PRC consulate people (presumably staff) who tried to pull the protester into the consulate compound, dragged him by the hair and put fingers in his eyes.

The injuries of the protester at the PRC consulate in Manchester today who people from inside the consulate tried to pull inside the compound by his hair, gouging his eyes and reportedly also kicking him. UK authorities must investigate. Who exactly were these consulate thugs?

.@Telegraph article on the attack by PRC consulate staff on protesters in Manchester today. @MPIainDS says he’ll raise the incident in Parliament & Chinese embassy must make full apology. Police say “enquiries ongoing.”

This BBC video shows a fuller view of the incident. It appears there were at least 9 assailants from the PRC consulate. They drug the protester into the compound & continued beating him in full view of the police, who hesitated before pulling him out.

Manchester police's full statement about the assault by people associated w/ the PRC consulate on a protester. Investigation ongoing in liaison with "national policing & diplomatic partners."
Their destruction of protest props should also be investigated.

This is the statement from the PRC consulate of Manchester about the incident. Apparently they’ve never heard of #FreeSpeech. What other diplomatic missions from other countries send thugs out to beat up protesters?

UK Foreign Minister has summoned PRC charge d’affaires (not ambassador) over beating of protester by Manchester PRC consulate staff. MPs call for ouster of any PRC diplomats responsible. PRC falsely claims protesters willfully entered consulate grounds.

Worth noting: the attack on protesters by Manchester PRC consulate staff isn't the only recent one against #HongKongers abroad. @tedhuichifung's just reported that the man who threatened him in Aug in Sydney has expressed the intention to plead guilty. sbs.com.au/language/chine…

And the head of @SPEAL_Cornell was attacked near @Cornell campus in June. This incident's been reported to the FBI, which takes attacks by pro-CCPers in the US very seriously. We hope national law enforcement authorities in the UK will as well.
