Movie/TV Series thoughts mostly in the form of very long threads. DC Comics fan. After #ZackSnyderJusticeLeague, here to #RestoretheSnyderVerse

It’s a new Monday, so time for a new entry into the #BatmanvSuperman references the DC lore series. Today, it’s time for The Death of Superman scene in the 🧵 below! #RestoreTheSnyderVerse #BvSMondayMood

Not surprisingly, there are homages to the The Death of Superman storyline and specifically to Superman #75 which is the final comic in this run. And what a better time to do this thread as we get closer to celebrating the 30th anniversary of this classical moment in comics!

So, we start with Clark saying to Lois how much he loves her before his final fight with Doomsday.

This is followed in both comic and movie with Superman flying to attack Doomsday.

In #BvS we get Wonder Woman lassoing Doomsday close to when Superman and Diana are fighting Doomsday in Action Comics #961 (which was written in 2016 when #BvS was released).

Then we have Doomsday using a spike to hurt (mortally) Superman. There is a resemblance to Doomsday cutting Superman with a spike (and him being surprised) in Superman #75.

The moment where Doomsday hurts Superman with the spike one can imagine inspire a panel from Batman: The Devastator #1 written in 2017. In it, Batman transforms into Doomsday to stop Superman.

Superman’s death shot from above resembles quite closely The Adventures of Superman #468 cover (the immediate follow up to The Death of Superman’s storyline.

After this we have Lois crying over Superman’s body, also quite close to different panels from Superman #75.

Interestingly, this shot with Wonder Woman standing next to Superman and Lois looks like the one from Injustice: Gods Among Us #20. However, in that storyline the one that dies is Lois (close to what would have happened in the planned Justice League 2).

And to close the thread, this scene in #BvS also has an epilogue with Lex communicating with Apokolips (and Steppenwolf) very reminiscing of him trying to communicate with Krypton in Superman: Birthright #12.

So that’s it for today’s thread. Remember if you like this thread or any previous ones, consider donating to the @afspnational Autumn Snyder Fund. Every small amount counts to raise awareness for this cause! supporting.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuse…
