Reports from #Iran indicate at least 60 inmates were killed & injured after being attacked by #Evin Prison security forces and anti-riots on Saturday night.

This attack was launched in response to #Evin inmates in wards 7 and 8 taking to the prison yard and voicing support for the ongoing #IranRevoIution2022 and chanting slogans specifically targeting regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Security forces used live bullets, pellet rounds, tear gas, and flashbang grenades in the attack.
Fifty inmates of Ward 8, where political prisoners are held, were transferred out; 15 of which were taken to #Evin clinic for the severity of their wounds.

The remaining 35 were transferred to Gohardasht Prison in Karaj, a city west of Tehran. One report indicates 11 supporters of the Iranian opposition PMOI/MEK were transferred out of Ward 8 while other PMOI/MEK supporters were under fire and attack.

One eyewitness report from #Evin Prison indicates the resulting blaze of Saturday night’s attack completely engulfed Ward 7 and inmates found shells of live ammunition at the site.

The turmoil, anti-regime slogans & attack on the inmates continued until 1:30 am Sunday. Plainclothes agents/IRGC members #Evin Prison & began surrounding the wards to prevent the inmates who had reached the rooftop from fleeing the facility.

Plainclothes agents & IRGC members were indiscriminately shooting at #Evin's windows. Security units were also shooting at windows of homes near #Evin from which people were chanting anti-regime slogans, using live bullets, pellet rounds & tear gas.

State media claimed the #Evin fire started in a sewing workshop. This is a lie. All workshops are closed at sunset with the daily roll call.
One local said: At 8:53 pm several people started the fire near Evin & splashed something to erupt the blaze.

Security forces fired tear gas and flashbang grenades into Ward 4 of #Evin Prison on Saturday night, forcing the inmates into closed rooms. No one was allowed into the halls or outside of the ward in the prison yard.

On the night of Oct 15, the brother of regime-elite Mehdi Rafsanjani, charged with financial crimes & serving his sentence in #Evin, said Mehdi was told on Friday not to return to prison. This raises concerns that the Evin incident was pre-planned.
