Supporters of the #IHRA definition of antisemitism insist that it is not about silencing criticism of Israel. But in the Adopt IHRA Coalition's list of 50 "examples" of "antisemitic tweets" that violate IHRA, a significant number of them are just… criticisms of Israel 👇

Here are some examples of tweets which are said to violate IHRA, which talk about apartheid, administrative detention, boycotts, and state terrorism. cc: @jvplive @Addameer 2/

@jvplive @Addameer Here are some examples of tweets which are said to violate IHRA, which talk about pro-Israel lobbying for IHRA, expulsions of Palestinians, Zionism and colonialism, and the meaning of decolonization. cc: @BDSmovement @Remroum 3/

@jvplive @Addameer @BDSmovement @Remroum Here are some examples of tweets which are said to violate IHRA, which talk about Israel's efforts to block entry of vaccines to Gaza, Zionism as racism, Palestine prior to 1948, and Israel's economic motivation to annex Jordan valley cc: @AliAbunimah @Mondoweiss @Lamis_Deek 4/

@jvplive @Addameer @BDSmovement @Remroum @AliAbunimah @Mondoweiss @Lamis_Deek Here are some examples of tweets which are said to violate IHRA, which talk about settler-colonialism, apartheid and land re-distribution, and settler pogroms cc: @4noura @Issaamro @DSA_Palestine 5/

@jvplive @Addameer @BDSmovement @Remroum @AliAbunimah @Mondoweiss @Lamis_Deek @4noura @Issaamro @DSA_Palestine Those are a few of the tweets which are entirely legitimate forms of political expression (whether or not you agree with them), which the 'Adopt IHRA Coalition' has mixed in with a minority of actually antisemitic tweets. The priority here is clearly on policing speech re Israel.

@jvplive @Addameer @BDSmovement @Remroum @AliAbunimah @Mondoweiss @Lamis_Deek @4noura @Issaamro @DSA_Palestine Many of the tweets are also from Palestinian activists and human rights groups, both on the ground and in the US/abroad, who may justifiably use harsh language to express anger at a deeply unjust situation. The point of IHRA is to erase uncomfortable Palestinian perspectives.

@jvplive @Addameer @BDSmovement @Remroum @AliAbunimah @Mondoweiss @Lamis_Deek @4noura @Issaamro @DSA_Palestine To be clear, these are the examples of 'antisemitic tweets' that the Adopt IHRA Coalition has itself chosen to single out and foreground in its appeal to Twitter to adopt IHRA, as examples of why IHRA is needed and how it will be used. IHRA is all about purging Palestinians.

@jvplive @Addameer @BDSmovement @Remroum @AliAbunimah @Mondoweiss @Lamis_Deek @4noura @Issaamro @DSA_Palestine Look for yourself here. A lot of organizations have put their names on this letter, and in doing so have admitted that IHRA is substantially about protecting Israel from Palestinian speech. adoptihra.org/twitterletter
