The verse of Karikavriti which bans the entry of Dalits and menstruting women on Shiva and Vishnu Temples was also mentioned by Pandit Batuk Prasaad sharma shastri of kashi as a Proof that shastras ban their entry.

This is mentioned in Dharmashastras and Saint Tulsidas even said in his Ramacharitmanas "Giving education to lower caste is like loving a Poisonous snake"

for seemingly trivial offences like crossing highways or drinking water.
