PhD Planning 101
Before my PhD I worked as CEO of a software company for years. I did *a lot* of planning.
Here is what 90% of people get wrong:
❌Planning is not: WHAT and WHEN
✅Planning is the HOW to achieve goals
Learn how to plan the HOW:

Now let's start planning!
⚡️1. Define your Goals
Without the destination in mind, you won't arrive.
Know where you're going 🧭.
Identify what YOU want vs what is EXPECTED OF YOU.
Use colours for this.
⚡️2. Identify what you will need
Understand which resources you will need.
Can be data, things, permits etc.
Note possible roadblocks with colours.
⚡️3. Connect Goals + Resources with Actions
Plan Actions that get your from data to a completed goal.
"Think out loud" along the way & write it down.
A network of ideas will emerge.
You will see opportunities, you missed previously.
This is the power of planning the HOW.
⚡️ 4. Make a rough time plan
Add dates/times next to your graph.
This helps directing the FOCUS of your next steps.
⏱️Time planning is tactical.
🗺️Goal planning is strategic.
Focus on strategy first, figure out tactics as you go.
Summary
🔻 Actions + Resources → Goals
🔻 Think out loud
🔻 Focus on Strategy, not Tactics
