Hinduism is oldest religion of Punjab. But it has become a minority religion.
Just like Mughals, Khalistanis systematically destroyed several 100s of Hindu temples to terrify Hindus & eradicate Hinduism .
As situation becomes worse now, a thread about Punjabi Hindu temples
🧵
Durgiana Mandir is one of the oldest temples of Amritsar.
According to the regional Hindu tradition, this temple was built on the spot where Lava and Kusha bound Hanuman. It is also mentioned in Puranas
The temple annually attracts millions of Hindus from all over the country.
Amritsar has very ancient Hindu history.
According to the regional Hindu tradition recorded in the "Survey of Amritsar", Amritsar got its name from Amrit immersed by Lava and Kusha in a pond.
Hindu Yaudheya coins dating back to 2000 years have been discovered around Amritsar.
Durgiana Mandir was rebuilt in 1921.
It housed the original Murtis of Vishnu & Durga which were inside Parikrama of Harmandir Sahib until they were unceremoniously thrown out in 1905.
Radicals frequently attacked this temple to break those Murtis and eliminate this history.
In 1982, in what was a completely unprovoked attack, activists of a group named Dal Khalsa threw a severed cow head inside Durgiana temple.
Dal Khalsa describes itself as a "Human Rights organization which strives to establish independent Sikh state".
Mahakali temple of Patiala is a very famous temple.
It was built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala.
The Murti of Kali was brought from Bengal and the Goddess is revered as the Kuldevi of Patiala. Hindus make annual pilgrimages to this temple on Dashara.
In 1982, Khalistani radicals hung tail of a cow inside the Mahakali temple of Patiala.
Devotees were shocked to see the tail of a cow hung inside the Garba Griha of the temple.
The priest of the temple was asked to leave Punjab in 48 hours and his family received rαpe threats
Dal Khalsa, the organization which claims that it strives to establish an independent Sikh state, not only took responsibility for these attacks but also declared their intention of repeating them.
This organization was temporarily banned in 1982 but the ban was lifted.
Apart from desecrating Hindu temples, the Dal Khalsa also has a history of hijacking airplanes .
In 2020 Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhism, decided to honor the founder of Dal Khalsa

Ram Tirath is one of the oldest temples of Amritsar.
According to the Hindu tradition, Ram Tirath was the place where Goddess Sita gave birth to Lava and Kusha
On December 3 1983, Khalistani activists sprinkled petrol on the Murtis of Krishna, Subhadra and Balrama inside the Garba Girha of Ram Tirath temple.
They set the Murtis of Hindu Gods on fire.
They urinated all over the walls of the temples and spat on the doors.
It is to be noted that all these incidents happened BEFORE the Operation Blue Star carried out by Congress Government in 1984.
The attacks of Hindu temples were not confined to just Punjab.
The radicals crossed over Punjab into Haryana and bombed several Hindu temples.
Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir is a very famous temple of Haryana.
Coins of ancient Yaudheyas dating back to 100 BC have been found at this ancient temple.
On November 21 1983, two bombs were thrown on this temple. A damaged section was later rebuilt by funds collected from devotees
Even the Jain temples were not spared.
On May 5, 1984 Jain temple in Amritsar was looted and desecrated.
Because the Jains are a very affluent community who decorated their temples with a lot of wealth, Jain temples were seen by Khalistani radicals as a great source for loot.
On February 28 of the same year, another Jain temple was desecrated and looted.
While Jain temples were a great source for loot,Hindu processions typically had a large congregation.
They bombed Hindu fairs like Shivaratri & Ramnavami where Hindus gathered in large numbers to ensure maximum Hindu kiIIings.
Shivala temple of Amritsar was bombed on Shivaratri
During the Shivala temple bombing on February 29 1984, 3 people were kiIIed and 32 injured.
The damaged section of the temple could not be rebuilt until 2005
Brahmins were a favorite target of Khalistani activists. Bhindranwale's rhetoric frequently centred on anti Brahmanism.
On 25th June 1983, a Pujari of a temple in Sultanpur was kiIIed with a sharp knife
While attacks on Hindu places of worship have abated in Punjab after the anti militancy drives of police and army, we are now beginning to see a sort of revival.
Recently in 2021, a Hindu priest was warned and shot. He passed away. Radicals desecrated Ram Lila
May 31 1988:
Radicals belonging to a religion b0mbed Shivala Hindu temple and a market, kiIIing 28 and injuring 100.
This was the second attack on the same temple in 4 years

The Santoshi Mata temple was a recently built temple in 1980s.
In the worldview of these radicals, a Hindu temple cannot be constructed in Punjab.
April 8 1984: B0mb exploded in the courtyard of Santoshi Mata temple, kiIIing the home guard and chowkidar
In 1980s and 1990s, not everybody in Punjab had television sets.
People used to gather outside shops to watch the serial Mahabharata based on the great Hindu epic.
Khalistan supporting Sikh radicals used to b0mb such gatherings and kiII many Hindus
The radicals were especially jealous of TV serials Ramayana and Mahabharata as they rejuvenated public interest in Hindu epics.
Another day, another set of people watching TV serial Mahabharat was bombed by Khalistani radicals. 5 kiIIed
April 16 1990

Like Mahabharata, the great epic Ramayana was also the target of these radicals.
1988: People watching Ramayana in public were b0mbed by Khalistan radicals.
The radicals crossed over from Punjab to enter the famous Hindu pilgrimage site of Kurukshetra. 78 people were kiIIed
1988: On Monday, when Hindu devotees gathered at Shiva temple of Amritsar for worship, a bomb exploded at the main gate of the temple.
22 people were kiIIed

After a period of lull, we see a resurgence of temple desecration activities.
Jan 2023: Hindu temple vandalized in Australia by 'Khalistan supporters'
February 2023: Ram Mandir vandalized by Khalistanis in Mississauga, Canada

Jan 2023: Hindu temple in Brampton, Canada vandalized by Khalistani graffiti and Bhindranwale art

It would be a mistake to think that Khalistanis carry out attacks only in Punjab and Haryana.
Take the case of Rudrapur. Fans of Bhindranwale b0mbed Ram Lila Hindu festival in Uttar Pradesh kiIIing over 40 people

This is exactly the kind of apologia offered by Pakistan supporters. That thousands of Hindu temples are still standing in Pakistan!
Thousands of temples are still standing in Punjab not because of Khalistani generosity. It is because of the resilience and devotion of the Hindu
The resilient & devoted Hindu rebuilds and reconstructs anything that has been desecrated or destroyed at the first opportunity he gets.
In this manner, thousands of Hindu temples existed even in Mughal India. The credit does not go to Khalistanis. Besides, what I have shared (+)
What I have shared thus far is only the tip of the iceberg. There are many more instances of such temple desecrations.
In a Hindu temple where murti is consecrated as embodiment of divine , any desecration of sacred space is tantamount to destruction.
Besides, many cases of shrines of the Hindus especially in villages destroyed. These were not significantly large & their desecrations/destructions were not reported out of fear of reprisal.
If we go by this logic, Ghazni never destroyed temples because Somanth exists today
Of course, Khalistanis destroyed only a dozen temples just as Audrey claims Aurangzeb destroys only a dozen temples!
Khalistani scale of destruction can never match Mughals because Mughals conquered entire India. Khalistanis have influence in a very small region and even there
Even in this small region, they never got any official power. That they still managed to desecrate/destroy so many temples right under the nose of a modern Government is staggering.
Still, in their barbarism, form, method & intention, Khalistanis matched Mughals inch by inch
While such threads can be very harsh, they do good to expose the sham of the people who swear by neutrality and brotherhood but are most interested in hiding the real truth with falsehood.
These are not "old wounds". Almost every fortnight, we hear of Hindu temple desecration from Australia, Canada or US.
Recently, a Hindu priest was kiIIed. Khalistanis were chargesheeted. Many Hindus from Punjab say they live in fear hindustantimes.com/cities/chandig…
2021: Temple desecration from Sangrur, Punjab. Posters of Hindu Gods and Goddesses were burnt!
Murtis of Shiva and Hanuman were destroyed, the Trishul was broken
opindia.com/2021/07/punjab…
2021: unknown miscreants vandalized yet another Hindu temple in Punjab.
Shivling and Nandi broken
jagran.com/punjab/sangrur…
2022: Temple demolished in Ludhiana.
2023: Nihang Singh threatens to destroy Hindu temples
Some people remarked that I was digging up old wounds.
This incident happened yesterday. Are these old wounds?
For how long are we going to be in self denial? For how long Negationism?
