Big News! I've been awarded a £223K @UKRI_News AHRC Research Development and Engagement Fellowship to construct a digital model of the #Janowska concentration camp.
This has been 2 years in the making and I'm so excited.

I will be working with Newcastle architect Michael Brown (who did these draft visualizations) to build a Historical Building Information Model of the camp based on a variety of archival sources.
One set of sources is the body of drawing by architect (and #Janowska prisoner) Zeev Porath whose visual documentation is held at the @GFH_Museum.
The process of creating the digital reconstruction will also let us explore issues of representation and ethics when working in the digital world.
We will also be building a web platform that that combines the model with primary source and other curated material that will bring this important history to a much broader audience.
I am so lucky to also be working with the @CUH_Lviv in Ukraine for both translation of the project into Ukrainian and as a partner in the research and investigation into the remains of the camp.
I am also happy to be working with architectural historian of the Holocaust Paul Jaskot at the @duke_dahvc.
We'll also be working with the @HolocaustUK to develop teaching materials for educators to use.
And, I'm super excited to be working on the scholarly side with @wienerlibrary and @HCN_hud to share this exciting new methodology and the lessons learned throughout this process.
A big thank you to my colleagues at @NorthumbriaHist @NorthumbriaUni for providing feedback on the research proposal and helping advise me through the process of my first UK grant application.
Watch this space for more updates on the #VisualizingJanowska project!
My partners and I will be looking to share our experience with anyone who is interested so please don't hesitate to get in touch!
