My mother- Ma kali. Who is Ma Kali?

The word Kali, comes from conjunction of two words, Kaal+I (Kaal=time) , which means , the one who controls , or affects Time(Kaal).

Her bareness conveys sensuality & virtue. Her garland of severed heads & support of cut off arms implies rage but are also tantric illustrations for imaginative force & severance from obligations of karma. Indeed, even her position is saturated with double importance.

The good, right way of Tantra (Dakshina Marga) is stressed by her correct foot forward position.

While her correct hands are mostly connected with positive signals, her left hands hold weapons – relying upon the quantity of arms she is depicted as having, a bloodied blade or harpoon, a newly cut off head and a skull cup to get the blood.
