The #UkrainianLanguage thread. A fascist tale.
Can you imagine an American president that did not speak English well?
Did you know that VLADIMIR #Zelensky only learned Ukrainian until he was almost 40 years old?
Even today, Zelensky still can’t...
2/
Zelensky still can’t speak Ukrainian quickly
Zelensky does not know many specific words in Ukrainian
Zelensky usually switches to Russian, even when Ukrainian is easy to learn for a Russian speaker (both languages arise from the Old East Slavic language)
And this is not...
3/
This is not unusual
Almost ALL Ukrainian politicians speak Russian privately, even former presidents like Yanukovich
They switch to Ukrainian only to please ultranationalists.
Many popular Ukrainians like @MilaKunisv, never spoke Ukrainian language in her life.
How is that...
4/
How is that possible?
Because for over 1000 years, the #UkrainianLanguage was just an old regional Slavic dialect, ONLY SPOKEN IN GALICIA (today's northwestern Ukraine/southern Poland)
Just like most of Irish people don’t speak Irish Gaelic.
(map suggested by @wolfvillage84)
5/
The #Ukrainianlanguage was NEVER used by a vast number of people.
That's why:
- Ukrainian does not have Ukrainian words for many things (scientific terms, etc)
- Ukrainian literature is very scarce, most "Ukrainian" writers (like Mikhail Bulgakov) wrote their works in Russian
6/
So, What's the language that EVERY Ukrainian knows?...
RUSSIAN!
The birth name of Zelensky is VLADIMIR (not Volodymyr). But The Ukraine began renaming everyone in about 2013.
All Nicolay-s -> became Mykola -s.
All Vladimir-s -> became Volodimir-s.
etc
Then...
7/
Then, after the 2014 Maidan, western Ukrainians (Galicia) began to impose their culture on the rest of the territory.
Russian language -the language that everyone in Ukraine speaks- was basically banned.
Yes, like banning German language in Switzerland.
The harassment of...
8/
The harassment of Russian speakers became an official policy of the new fascist government
Remember the people tied to poles?....
They are not looters, they just didn't speak certain words "correctly", like the word “Palianytsia” (a type of Ukrainian domed bread)
9/
That's part of why the rebellion began, the native Russians of East Ukraine raised.
Here is a quick thread about that.

Remember, BEFORE 1991, The Ukraine has NEVER been an independent nation, but a divided region, part of Austria-Hungary, Poland, Russia, Germany, etc
The current "BIG" Ukraine was an administrative creation of the CCCP.
Try to search for "Ukraine" as a nation in any old map:
11/
But still, Ultranationalists blame Russia for the lack of Ukrainian literature.
How can they say that when one of the most important pieces of literature about the history of Ukraine (Taras Bulba) is about a war of Ukrainians against... POLAND!
12/
How can they blame Russia for the lack of Ukrainian literature when at the same time they promise that the Ukrainian Language is older than Russian?
Why they don't blame Poland, Austria-Hungary, Germany, Lithuania, etc?
13/
Today -to move farther away from Russia-; western Ukrainians want to latinize the beautiful Ukrainian alphabet!
The Cyrillic script was first introduced as a modified Greek alphabet around a millennium ago.
Who is the one destroying a culture?
14/
Who is the one destroying a culture?
Who is the one destroying a nation?
Thanks to Russia, by 1990, The Ukraine was one of the most ADVANCED countries in the world.
Then, the west and the Ultranationalists came by...
Thread about it.
