#Thread| Rahul Gandhi and his Fairytales of Lies in UK!

Lie 1: @RahulGandhi claimed that the voices of Opposition MPs were muted in Indian Parliament. He alleges that his microphone was offed several times during his tenure as an MP.

Fact: No media reports have been found to validate this claim. Although even in the past, INC leader has alleged being unable to address the Parliament though he never presented any evidence to support his claim.

Furthermore, even Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh termed these allegations baseless: "I have been in Parliament for past 9 years & not once have I heard anything like that from anyone.”

Lie 2: Rahul Gandhi in his UK tour has repeatedly claimed that his phone was infested with the Pegasus malware by the Indian government and even intelligence officials cautioned him against it.

Fact: The Supreme Court-appointed committee to investigate the charges of Pegasus had found no evidence of the presence of malware in the submitted smartphones.

Interestingly, Rahul Gandhi had not submitted his phone to the investigating committee.

Lie 3: Rahul Gandhi accused that decisions such as the Demonetization and GST were not discussed in the Parliament.

Fact: The opposition’s accusations were trashed as earlier this year the SC upheld Demonetization in its verdict.

Regarding the non-discussion in Parliament, here’s an excerpt from the memoirs of former President Pranab Mukherjee-

“I am of the firm opinion that demonetization could not have been done with prior consultation because the suddenness and surprise, absolutely necessary for such announcements, would have been lost after such a process.”

GST was passed after hours of discussions in both houses. The GST bill after being passed by Lok Sabha was sent back to Rajya Sabha on some doubts by the opposition and hence was amended, before being launched at midnight on 1 July 2017
