Some individuals would resort to presenting a certain narrative on Holi and present it as a festival with barbaric celebration. There have been constant attempts to malign Holi throughout the years.

In 2018, a DU student alleged in her Instagram story that she was hit by a balloon filled with Semen. The story went viral and internet was filled with op-eds on ‘Holi Hooliganism and misogynist hindu festival’!

Later, the allegation was rendered false by a forensic report which ruled out the possibility of semen in the holi balloon submitted by the student.

Opposition towards Hindu festivals has become a new norm for many as they term it unsafe for Women and young girls.
