Berossos, a Babylonian priest, astronomer and historian. He is said to have written several volumes of history books in the 3rd century BC. He compiled these history books from the Babylonian temple archives. (290-278 BC)
These texts contain very interesting information. The god Oannes and the 7 Apkallu sages are mentioned.
“He came out of the Eritrean sea for the first time. After sunset, he returned to the sea and spent the night in the deep. Then other animals came out of the sea, like Oannes”
Oannes has appeared out of nowhere, and due to his strange outfit, he has the appearance of a fisherman, half fish, half human. Berossos mentioned Oannes as a monster and creature in his writings. He has the feet, arms and head of a man and speaks like a human.
Oannes never eats. It resembles an amphibious creature that lives both on land and in the sea. Sometimes they come out of the sea en masse with others who look like them. Others are 7 people. They are called Abkallu. Oannes is doing business with the 7 abkallu and is their leader
Oannes and 7 Abkallu sages in Mesopotamia; He is depicted as a fish man or a bird man. In the cuneiform scripts, Oannes and 7 Abkallu are called "wise". It is stated that 7 Abkallu sages were magicians, doctors, metal and stone masters.
🍁Abkallu, Ab-Kal, Av-kal
Oannes in all ancient cultures in Mesopotamia; He is known as the hero of civilization. Berossos states that before Oannes, people lived like animals.
Oannes is said to have taught people to write, the science of mathematics, city building skills, planting seeds, and all the knowledge necessary to lead a civilized life. It is believed that the sages of Oannes and Abkallu continued this educational work for thousands of years.
It is said that the pre-Diluvial cities of Eridu, Badtibira, Larak, Shippar and Shuruppak were built by them and sometimes counseled kings. All of them carry something like a bag or bucket in their hands.
