(1) @fairfaxcounty confirms @wmata gave the wrong address for the Reston Town Center #Metro Station. It delayed fire & EMS getting to a man in cardiac arrest. That man died. How did this mistake occur? #WMATA isn't saying but it fits a pattern. (more) @wmataGM

(2) For decades I've reported on Metro's poor communications with 911 centers, firefighters & EMS. Two weeks ago @MetrorailSafety reminded us of this continuing @wmata problem via its investigative report into a Nov. 7 smoke incident at Courthouse. Here's what WMSC wrote: (more)

(3) Multiple sources & radio traffic back @fairfaxcounty's official statement confirming Metro gave the Department of Public Safety Communications (DPSC or 911 center) the wrong address. (more)

(4) LISTEN: The call was initially dispatched at 9:08 a.m. Monday to 1901 Reston Metro Plaza, an address adjacent to the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station. The dispatch was for a medical emergency on the platform but was immediately upgraded to a cardiac arrest. (more)

(5) LISTEN: The fire liaison officer at @wmata's Rail Operations Control Center (ROCC) told the first firefighters arriving at the Wiehle-Reston East Metro Station that a security camera showed Metro workers on the platform doing CPR on the man. (more)

(6) LISTEN: Engine 425 was first at Wiehle-Reston East & found nothing. That's because the correct location was 2 miles away at Reston Town Ctr station, 12,023 Sunset Hills Rd. @ffxfirerescue crews & 911 scrambled to get the closest firefighters & EMS to the new location. (more)

(7) As you heard, when Engine 425 said they found no patient, a dispatcher immediately responded there was a supplement to the initial call indicating the location was the Reston Town Ctr. station. It now appears @fairfaxcounty's DPSC & not Metro made this change. (more)

(8) LISTEN: At 9:20 a.m., 12 minutes after the call was first dispatched, Truck 425 reported they were with the patient. (more)

(9) LISTEN: So what did #wmata workers know & when did they know it? @wmata's radio traffic shows that at 9:07 a.m. Metro was talking with the station manager at Reston Town Center about the patient. It shows Metro knew which station it was early on. (more)

(10) By all indications Metro workers began CPR & possibly used an AED well before @ffxfirerescue arrived. Firefighters & medics continued to work the man to the nearby ED at Reston Hospital but he did not survive. (more)

(11) Let's hope @wmata will explain today how it provided the wrong information to Fairfax 911 on such a critical emergency. statter911.com/2023/03/21/met… #wmata
