I’ve been asked by a few people why I believe the latest allegation story from Global is “unravelling” today

First, there’s the G&M story from today which confirms the CSIS sources did NOT provide media with audio or transcripts

That’s important because the story also says PMO was provided with the transcript & concluded “no action was necessary”

So one of two things is possible,

1) PMO read the transcript and it confirmed the allegation cited in the Global story

Or 2) The transcript does not confirm the allegation

I see many people suggesting #1 is true after reading the story.

I can’t imagine a situation where any Government would do that.

It appears that this may be a simple translation of mandarin…to be clear it the word “immediate” & “delay” that sound similar, not immediately

If so, much more likely #2 is the case, and why G&M wasn’t provided the transcript

According to people I’ve spoken to in recent days, this is a simple tale of revenge

“Intelligence assets with ties to the pro-convoy, anti-mandate movements”providing information to media with an axe to grind

Some things I’m unable to confirm, so I won’t elaborate

One aspect is easy enough to confirm however

It starts back in 2015, in August of that year, then Minister Michael Chan sued the G&M and authors of similar allegations made against him

That suit, for over $4 million dollars was concluded in 2018 according to records

A second lawsuit was filed in September of 2016 for another $1.5 million

Here’s where it gets interesting…

Not long after the second suit was filed, the author of those stories was shuffled from Foreign Affairs to the Arts beat at the G&M…totally normal to see that kind of career shift

And yes dear #cdnpoli follower, you guessed it, that same author is now an Editor at Global

Why what my source calls “a big bag of bullsh*t” was published recently is likely a tale of revenge with Han Dong as collateral damage

I’m an amateur who’s done a lot of oppo research in my day, but surely pros will do a better job of getting to the truth in the days ahead

I’ll add one last thing here because I’m seeing the comments about my partisan take.

I’m not denying the existence of a Chinese global interference network as has been reported across the world.

An investigation is needed, one with due process, that’s all
