The Grand Netaji Week (A thread)
On 4th July 1943, Netaji announced the starting of the the last war of India's independence at the famous Padang of Singapore. On the same date in 1944, Netaji gave his most famous speech, "Give Me Blood, I will give you Freedom" in Burma, which gave a new hope and enthusiasm
among INA and Indians of Toa. In 1944 (or 1945), it was decided to commemorate the anniversary of Netaji's taking over of the Indian Independence movement and the starting of the last war of India's liberation by celebrating "Netaji Week" from 4th to 10th July. Almost every day
of Netaji week has it's own significance:-
4th July 1943- The starting of the last war of India's liberation
4th July 1944- Netaji gave his most famous speech, "Give Me Blood, I will give you Freedom"
5th July 1943- Netaji gave his famous slogan, "To Delhi, To Delhi" and
6th July 1943- Nippon PM Tojo saluted the INA (only foreign army saluted by him) along with Netaji, & gave a symbolic recognition to INA
8th July 1945- Netaji laid the foundation stone of the INA memorial
9th July 1943- Netaji gave slogan, "Total mobilisation for a total war"
In various sources, it has been mentioned differently how Netaji week was celebrated. The celebration can be summarised as-
➡️ Mass meetings & demonstrations

➡️ Singing of the National Anthem & patriotic songs
➡️ Military parades by INA, Balak Sena & RJR

➡️ Galantary awards like "Sevak-e-Hind" & "Veer-e-hind" were presented

After Japan and INA lost the war and Netaji disappeared, it was thought that Netaji Week won't be celebrated anymore but on the contrary, it was celebrated even more enthusiastically. Below pics show that Netaji Week was
celebrated in 1946 and 1947 (Azad Hind Day refers 21st of each month).
The Netaji week has made a deep impact on Syonan (Singapore) as it was on 15th July only that the INA memorial was inaugurated in 1995 and a biography on Netaji was released on 5th July in Padang by none
other than then president of Singapore in 2005
